UNDERGROUND LOADER OPERATOR Department: Mining Operations Location: Chillum Mine is situated in Lufwanyama within the Copper belt Province. Employment Type: Full-Time Reports To: Dynamic Shift Supervisor / Mine Operations Captain This leadership role is responsible for overseeing daily mining operations during assigned shifts, ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols, production targets, and regulatory compliance. Key responsibilities include managing on-site personnel, coordinating equipment utilization, and resolving operational challenges to maintain seamless workflow. The ideal candidate will possess demonstrated mine leadership experience, comprehensive knowledge of mining processes, and a proven commitment to safety excellence. Strong communication, problem-solving, and team coordination skills are essential for driving efficient and compliant operations. Certification in mine supervision and relevant technical training are required. Job Purpose To operate underground load-haul-dump (LHD) equipment with a focus on safety and efficiency, ensuring the loading, hauling, and discharge of ore and waste material in alignment with established mine production plans, operational guidelines, and stringent safety protocols. Key Responsibilities Operate underground mining LHD/loader equipment, specifically Shandong Chili/TMG Underground Mining Dump Trucks, with a strong emphasis on safety and operational efficiency. Transport ore and waste material to specified sites as required. Perform pre-start inspections and document any equipment defects observed. Execute designated tasks using approved equipment in underground environments, strictly adhering to provided instructions. Maintain precise documentation of production activities and equipment operations. Track equipment functionality and document any mechanical irregularities for further assessment. Ensure that all work areas are kept clean, organized, and free of clutter to maintain a safe and efficient environment. Ensure adherence to all ground control, ventilation, and other underground safety protocols and regulations. Your responsibilities include attending toolbox meetings and actively engaging in safety programs. Ensure all necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) is utilized correctly and maintained in optimal working condition at all times. Promptly communicate any unsafe conditions, incidents, or equipment defects to the appropriate personnel or supervisor. Assist the supervisor with additional tasks as necessary to support ongoing operations and meet departmental objectives. Minimum Requirements Grade 12 School Certificate. Holds a valid Heavy Equipment or Load-Haul-Dump (LHD) Operator Certificate, or an equivalent mining equipment operating qualification.
