Eco Planet Bamboo is at the forefront of advancing bamboo as a sustainable, deforestation-free, and climate-friendly alternative fiber for major global industries. As a triple bottom line organization, we prioritize people, planet, and profit equally, fostering a collaborative, entrepreneurial, and mission-driven team dedicated to sustainable development and long-term positive impact. Our expansion includes carbon-financed bamboo farms across Nicaragua, South Africa, Ghana, Rwanda, and the Philippines, where our projects deliver integrated solutions to three critical environmental challenges: combating climate change, restoring degraded landscapes, and providing sustainable alternatives to deforestation-driven consumer markets. In Rwanda specifically, our initiatives safeguard watersheds through riparian plantings and expand critical habitats for endangered Mountain Gorillas. We are searching for a seasoned Operations Manager to assume full accountability for implementing Eco Planet Bamboo’s Annual Planting and Operations Plan across Rwanda’s districts. This field-intensive leadership position demands operational rigor, an active on-site presence, and consistent execution of the POLE management framework (Planning, Organizing, Leading, Controlling) to enhance productivity, quality, safety, and compliance across all activities. Based at our headquarters in Kigali, the role requires a minimum of three days per week in the field, rotating through all 13 districts, and daily morning briefings with supervisors. You will oversee three supervisors who manage 31 technicians, while collaborating closely with field teams, nursery staff, and corporate functions. Key Responsibilities: – Operational Planning & Execution: Convert the Annual Planting and Operations Plan into actionable daily, weekly, and monthly execution strategies; develop and distribute structured work plans with measurable targets by activity, compartment, and workforce; ensure proactive provision of tools, plants, fertilizers, water, equipment, and vehicles; set and enforce productivity benchmarks and quality standards; optimize labor allocation across direct staff, seasonal labor, and contractors; and manage nursery operations to meet performance criteria for plant quality and timely delivery. – Field Management, Quality Control & Compliance: Maintain a robust on-site presence to uphold standard operating procedures (SOPs), environmental health and safety (EHS), silvicultural, environmental, and FSC standards; conduct systematic random audits at the compartment level across all districts; review operational performance weekly and initiate corrective measures as needed; and enforce accountability for non-compliance, poor quality, or safety violations. – SOP Ownership & Continuous Improvement:
