We are looking for a dynamic and goal oriented Senior Systems Administrator to be based in Lusaka. The Senior Systems Administrator is responsible for managing, securing, and optimizing enterprise IT systems, including servers, storage, virtualization platforms, and cloud services. This role ensures high availability, performance, and security of ICT infrastructure supporting software applications, hardware services, and fleet management operations. The ideal candidate combines technical mastery with leadership, proactive monitoring, and a strong focus on operational resilience. Key Responsibilities Manage and maintain Windows/Linux servers, Active Directory, and domain services. Oversee virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V, Proxmox) and cloud environments (Azure, AWS). Configure and monitor storage systems, backup solutions, and disaster recovery protocols. Ensure patch management, firmware updates, and lifecycle maintenance of systems. Security & Compliance Implement and enforce system security policies, access controls, and encryption standards. Monitor logs and alerts for suspicious activity, escalating incidents as required. Conduct vulnerability assessments and support remediation efforts. Ensure compliance with ISO 27001, GDPR, and organizational security standards. Performance Monitoring & Optimization Monitor system performance, capacity, and availability using enterprise tools. Troubleshoot bottlenecks and optimize resource utilization across servers and applications. Maintain documentation of configurations, changes, and performance baselines. Provide recommendations for system upgrades and future scalability. Team Leadership and Support Mentor junior administrators and IT support staff, providing technical guidance and training. Coordinate with network, hardware, and fleet teams to ensure integrated infrastructure support. Act as escalation point for complex technical issues. Participate in cross-functional projects, ensuring system readiness and stability. Documentation & Reporting Maintain audit-ready documentation for system configurations, access logs, and compliance reports. Prepare regular reports on system health, uptime, and incident trends. Support audits and provide evidence of system governance and operational resilience. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related field. 5–7 years of experience in systems administration, with at least 2 years in a senior role. Strong expertise in Windows/Linux server administration, virtualization, and cloud platforms. Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and Exchange/Office 365. Familiarity with backup solutions (Veeam, Commvault, etc.) and monitoring tools(Nagios, Zabbix, SolarWinds). Certifications such as MCSE, RHCE, VMware VCP, or AWS/Azure Administrator are highly desirable.
