Job Summary: The Business Development – Institutional Funding Coordinator is tasked with leading technical coordination, managing the funding pipeline, and driving strategic donor engagement to enhance Oxfam’s standing with institutional funders throughout the Southern Africa (SAF) Cluster. This role ensures that interactions with bilateral and multilateral donors, development finance institutions, UN agencies, and other key institutional partners are systematically organized, grounded in evidence, and aligned with the organization’s strategic goals and programmatic objectives. Central to this position is the responsibility for developing and overseeing a regional institutional funding pipeline, supporting donor positioning strategies, coordinating proposal development efforts, and reinforcing consortium and partnership frameworks. Additionally, the role collaborates closely with program, humanitarian, and influencing teams to identify new funding prospects, facilitate competitive bid submissions, and ensure that institutional engagement drives measurable program impact while fostering long-term financial resilience. Furthermore, the position oversees key stakeholders involved in securing institutional funding and fostering donor relationships throughout the Cluster, with a focus on efficient coordination, capacity enhancement, and successful outcomes. This position demands advanced technical proficiency, strategic acumen, and strong analytical skills, enabling independent decision-making within a sophisticated, multinational, partner-driven setting.

EXPERIENCE

, KNOWLEDGE & COMPETENCIES Essential Master’s degree in International Development, Business Administration, or Public Policy is required. Qualifications in Economics, Development Finance, or an equivalent field are required. With a minimum of five years of expertise in institutional fundraising, securing grants, business development, or donor relations—including at least two to three years in a coordination or leadership capacity—you will bring valuable experience to this role. Proven track record in collaborating with bilateral donors, multilateral organizations, development finance institutions, United Nations entities, and/or established foundations. Seasoned professionals with a track record of successfully managing intricate proposal development and collaborative consortium bids are encouraged to apply. Possesses a comprehensive grasp of institutional donor compliance frameworks and funding mechanisms. Highly proficient in strategic planning, analytical thinking, negotiation, and relationship management. Professional experience in international, cross-border settings and collaborative, partnership-driven contexts is required. Fluent written and spoken English skills are required; proficiency in Portuguese is highly advantageous.
