Job Summary: The Business Development Coordinator for Private Sector & Institutional Partnerships will lead strategic coordination, drive pipeline development, and foster partnership initiatives to enhance Oxfam’s collaboration with private sector entities, institutional donors, and key financing avenues throughout the Southern Africa (SAF) Cluster. This position is tasked with developing, overseeing, and expanding a diverse regional funding and partnership network encompassing private sector entities, corporate partners, institutional donors, foundations, and innovative financial solutions. It guarantees that all business development prospects are strategically aligned, ethically grounded, compliant with regulations, and enhance program quality, long-term financial sustainability, and Oxfam’s systemic change objectives. Reporting to the Business Development Lead, the role serves as a key coordination hub across country teams, thematic program specialists, partnership frameworks, and Oxfam affiliates. It drives proactive positioning, enhances competitiveness, minimizes fragmentation, and strengthens the Cluster’s capacity to secure and steward high-value strategic partnerships. Additionally, this position serves as the primary coordinator for focal point alignment across the Cluster, enhances local capacity in participating countries, and aids in establishing a sustainable funding framework that advances Oxfam’s shift toward a more partner-centric, regionally integrated, and financially diversified operational approach. The role demands advanced technical proficiency, strategic insight, and strong analytical skills, along with the capacity to function independently within a multifaceted, multi-country, partner-driven setting.

EXPERIENCE

, KNOWLEDGE & COMPETENCIES Essential A Master’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Development Studies, International Relations, or a closely related discipline is required. With a minimum of five years of proven expertise in business development, partnerships, institutional fundraising, and private sector engagement, including at least two to three years in a leadership or coordination capacity within a team setting. Accomplished professionals with a track record of collaborating with private sector entities, cultivating strong stakeholder relationships, and effectively managing cross-functional coordination initiatives. Demonstrated expertise in relationship management, communication, and strategic thinking is essential. Experienced in collaborating with national or regional partners to facilitate program implementation, with a demonstrated ability to operate effectively in multi-country or multi-stakeholder environments. We seek a candidate who excels at establishing and nurturing trustworthy, influential connections with both internal teams and external stakeholders. Organisations. Proficient in both written and verbal English, with exceptional interpersonal communication abilities and a demonstrated aptitude for influence and persuasion. Individuals must exhibit a strong sense of self-awareness, maintain high levels of personal energy and stamina, and demonstrate adaptability in dynamic situations. Demonstrated success in collaborating effectively within a team environment and fostering strong working relationships with colleagues across various departments. Dedication to upholding Oxfam’s safeguarding policies is essential to guaranteeing the safety and well-being of all individuals who interact with the organization. Desirable Demonstrated dedication to Oxfam’s core mission and guiding principles, along with a proven track record in advancing gender equity, fostering diversity, and championing the rights of marginalized communities across all facets of Oxfam’s initiatives. The role requires a capacity and readiness for frequent travel, including occasional last-minute assignments, both within the local area and across the broader region. Excellent written and verbal English communication skills are essential, with fluency in Portuguese considered an advantage. Contract Type: Renewable on an annual basis for a fixed term of one year, contingent upon the continued availability of funding.
