Established in 1863, the ICRC operates worldwide, helping people affected by conflict and armed violence and promoting the laws that protect victims of war. An independent and neutral organization, its mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions of 1949. We are based in Geneva, Switzerland, and employ some 14,500 people in more than 80 countries.

We are looking for a Technology & Information Product Owner to join our team. This is a contract, full-time position, requiring a BA/BSc/HND qualification, and is located in the ICT / Computer field.

Purpose

The Product Owner liaises with various Information and Communication Technology (ICT) stakeholders (e.g., Project Managers, ICT Managers, Business Relationship Managers, Platform Owners, and Solution Architects) as well as external partners supporting the integration of ICT products.

The role is responsible for managing the assigned product and its evolution, ensuring the smooth operation of services, and maintaining the coherence and consistency of technical architectural decisions within the product or functional area. The Product Owner also communicates complex technical concepts and challenges effectively to management and other key stakeholders.

Accountabilities & functional responsibilities

Anticipates business needs and provides guidance on the technologies used within the product under their responsibility.

Owns backlog prioritization across both build and run activities, translating business requirements into clear priorities for the Agile delivery team by defining what is needed and why it is needed.

Ensures continuous monitoring of the product in alignment with architecture and infrastructure standards and guidelines.

Actively participates as a member of the Agile Product Team, contributing to Agile ceremonies and best practices.

Drives the achievement of milestones agreed with the Product Line Lead and ensures the product meets non-functional requirements, including performance, stability, upgradeability, and security.

Oversees product-level resource allocation and, where applicable, manages external resources to support successful delivery.

Leverages data and performance metrics to drive value-based decision-making and minimize assumptions when establishing product priorities.

Collaborates closely with the Product Manager, Release Train Engineer, business stakeholders, Product Owner peers, Scrum Master, and Agile Delivery Team to ensure successful product outcomes.

Contributes to the development and execution of the overall product line strategy.

Professional experience required

Bachelor’s degree in ICT Management, Business, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a similar role.

Experience managing, integrating, and supporting enterprise technology solutions throughout their lifecycle.

Strong understanding of software development, system implementation, deployment, and Agile delivery methodologies.

Agile certification is an advantage; training and coaching will be provided.

Experience with Frappe is an advantage.

Good understanding of digital transformation, enterprise architecture, and emerging technology trends.

Excellent command of English and/or French. Additional language(s) are an asset.

What we offer

Diverse and humanitarian-minded workforce.

An opportunity to contribute to institutional efforts to protect and assist conflict victims worldwide.

Training opportunities.

Flexible work schedule.

  • Never pay any amount of money — for a file, a training, a uniform, or an interview. A real employer never asks the candidate to pay.
  • Never send a photo of your ID card, passport, or banking details before you have physically verified the employer exists.
  • Always meet in a public place, during the day — never an isolated address, a private home, or a location you cannot verify in advance.
  • Tell a relative or friend exactly where you are going, with whom, and at what time — and share your live location if possible.
  • Search the company name online before going: a real business has a trace (website, reviews, other employees, an official address).
  • A salary that is far above the market rate for the position and the city is a red flag — be extra cautious.
