U-Car is transitioning from an informally run fleet to a professionally managed mobility business within DBT Group’s governed structure. The Manager builds the operational foundation — fleet management, maintenance, bookings, customer service, and vehicle documentation — and then operates it to a consistent commercial standard, while driving the development and market launch of the ride-hailing application that will bring external drivers onto the network. Key Responsibilities Operations & Fleet Management Manage the daily operations of the rental fleet, ensuring vehicles are available, allocated efficiently, and generating revenue. Implement and maintain a fleet management system, keeping an accurate register of every vehicle’s status, location, and utilisation. Oversee the vehicle maintenance system, ensuring scheduled servicing, inspections, and repairs keep the fleet safe and roadworthy. Ensure every vehicle is fully documented — registration, insurance, licensing, and inspection — with renewals tracked and current. Bookings & Customer Service Establish and manage the call-in booking center, ensuring bookings are captured, confirmed, and fulfilled reliably. Run the customer service channel, handling enquiries, support, and complaints to a defined standard. Build and maintain relationships with regular, corporate, and group clients, including other DBT Group entities. Ride-Hailing Platform Lead the launch of the U-Car ride-hailing platform, working with the strategy team and technology providers through development and roll-out. Establish driver and vehicle onboarding, including document verification, eligibility, and standards for external drivers joining the network. Administer the driver fee/commission model, in-app payments, and driver settlement. Maintain service and safety quality across both owned vehicles and external drivers operating under the U-Car name. Administration & Finance Oversee revenue collection, reconciliation, and reporting, connecting into the group’s consolidated finance function. Manage procurement of vehicles, parts, and services within approved budgets and authority levels. Produce regular operational and financial reports for the Group COO. Team & Standards Recruit, train, and supervise staff and drivers against documented staff and driver manuals. Enforce conduct, safety, and customer-service standards across the team. Conduct route analysis to position vehicles for demand and improve utilisation. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s degree in business administration, operations, logistics, transport management, or a related field. Proven experience managing fleet, logistics, transport, car rental, or a comparable operations-intensive business. Experience setting up systems and processes, not only running established ones. Familiarity with fleet management and/or booking software; exposure to ride-hailing or platform operations is a strong advantage. Sound financial literacy — budgets, revenue reconciliation, and cost control. Skills & Attributes Strong operational and organisational discipline, able to build order where little exists. Leadership and people-management ability across drivers, office, and technical staff. Customer-focused, with sound judgement in handling service and safety issues. Comfortable leading a technology-enabled launch and working with external providers. High integrity in handling vehicles, documentation, cash, and compliance. Please
