Deputy Depot Manager

The Assistant Depot Manager collaborates closely with the Depot Manager to facilitate seamless depot operations, focusing on effective stock management, sales assistance, and adherence to established company policies and procedures. This position involves overseeing inventory control processes, providing leadership to depot staff, maintaining precise stock documentation, and ensuring the depot remains a safe, secure, and well-organized facility while delivering outstanding customer service. Key Responsibilities Provide support in managing the day-to-day functions of the depot, which encompass receiving stock, organizing storage, facilitating sales, and coordinating dispatch activities. Responsibilities include overseeing inventory control processes such as stock issuance, conducting physical stock counts, and performing reconciliations to ensure accuracy and accountability. Track inventory levels diligently and immediately escalate any discrepancies or supply shortages to the appropriate personnel for resolution. In the Depot Manager’s absence, oversee depot personnel and confirm compliance with established company protocols. Ensure all stock and sales documentation is completed and filed accurately. Provide support in the compilation and submission of sales and stock reports on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. Facilitate the execution of depot opening and closing protocols. Maintain the depot facilities in a clean, safe, and orderly condition at all times. Deliver outstanding customer service while actively contributing to sales initiatives. Ensure the protection of company assets and promptly communicate any operational risks or incidents as they arise. Handle any additional responsibilities delegated by the Depot Manager as required. Key Qualifications and Competencies A full Grade 12 certificate, inclusive of five (5) credits or higher, is required. A relevant qualification in Business Administration, Agriculture, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a closely related discipline at the diploma level or above is required. Experienced candidates must demonstrate at least one year of practical involvement in depot operations, inventory management, sales, administrative tasks, or agricultural sectors. Proficient in utilizing Microsoft Office applications with strong computer literacy skills. Effective communication and strong interpersonal abilities are essential for this role. Proficient understanding of inventory control systems and stock management methodologies is essential. Demonstrates exceptional organizational abilities and a proven capacity for effective problem resolution. Maintains precise documentation and compiles detailed reports with accuracy and consistency. A strong commitment to integrity, accountability, and meticulous attention to detail. Demonstrates strong resilience and adaptability when operating under tight deadlines or high-pressure situations.
