Save the Children, in collaboration with Vāyu Global Health and the Ministry of Health (MOH), and with financial support from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Charities (LDSC), will execute a comprehensive initiative to enhance healthcare delivery. Enhancing the quality of care for premature and critically ill infants in Zambia is our top priority. The initiative seeks to lower neonatal mortality at healthcare facilities by enhancing respiratory care for newborns through the deployment of bubble Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (BiPAP) systems. Additionally, it aims to strengthen referral and transfer protocols for critically ill infants while building the competencies of healthcare personnel across Lusaka, Central, and Southern Provinces. Implementation will occur in ten district-level public health facilities equipped with 24-hour inpatient newborn care units. The project will focus on improving care quality for small and sick newborns by integrating evidence-based clinical practices, health system enhancements, workforce training, mentorship, quality improvement initiatives, and the sustainable integration of BiPAP services into standard newborn care protocols. ROLE PURPOSE The Project Manager is responsible for furnishing comprehensive leadership, establishing strategic direction, coordinating efforts, and ensuring meticulous oversight throughout the execution of the project. Delivering enhanced care for premature and critically ill newborns represents a vital priority. This role focuses on improving health outcomes for infants requiring specialized medical attention. Key responsibilities include administering advanced neonatal treatments, monitoring vital signs meticulously, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to develop individualized care plans. Essential qualifications encompass a degree in neonatal nursing or pediatrics, current certification in neonatal resuscitation, and proven experience in high-acuity neonatal care settings.
