Station Accountant, Antananarivo, Madagascar Organization: International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) Country: Madagascar City: Antananarivo Office: IITA in Antananarivo Station Accountant On-site Madagascar Contract IITA-MDG-009 Antananarivo, Analamanga, Madagascar Antananarivo, Analamanga, Madagascar Description Position: Station Acountant Contract: 2-year renewable contract Location: Antananarivo, Madagascar The Senior Accountant is responsible for ensuring the regular and rigorous day-to-day financial management, including bookkeeping, budget monitoring, financial reporting and compliance with IITA and World Bank procedures, as well as providing administrative support related to finance. The Station Accountant reports hierarchically to the Project Head of Mission. Duties: Prepare and review project financial reports. Review partners' financial report and prepare financial justification. Attend to queries raised by Budget Officers regarding projects and fund status. Develop, maintain, and analyze budgets. Raise journals for necessary adjustments on various accounts and load them into Oracle. Update, review, and reconcile bills receivables from donors with the total grants income of projects. Support the institute's annual audit with relevant schedules and respond to audit queries. Promptly promote the month-end budget monitoring report. Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor. Requirements QUALIFICATION: University degree at Bac+4 level (Master's degree or equivalent) Accounting, Finance, Economics, or any other related field Experience in the accounting management of projects funded by international donors is an asset. COMPETENCIES: The ideal candidate must: Have excellent communication skills (writing, reading, oral). Have a strong analytical mind. Be very good with computer applications, especially Oracle. Be a good team player, and honest. Good command of French and English; knowledge of Malagasy is an asset. Have a very pleasant personality.
