Learn more about our Vision, purpose, values – AngloGold Ashanti POSITION Technical Specialist – HME Maintenance UG DEPARTMENT Asset Management & Engineering LEVEL 2L / C5 LOCATION Geita Gold Mine Tanzania EMPLOYMENT STATUS Fixed Term OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE Diagnose faults in mechanical and electrical systems, conducting breakdown repairs and servicing on heavy mining equipment. Provide on-the-job training and mentorship to Tanzanian nationals to facilitate efficient skills transfer in accordance with established development plans. Develop and implement technical training programs for key national mechanics to enhance departmental competency. ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES Demonstrate a steadfast commitment to upholding safety, health, and environmental standards in all workplace operations while ensuring diligent oversight and effective management of assigned responsibilities. Serve as both a technical expert and a mentor, facilitating the seamless transfer of essential skills and expertise to junior national mechanics in alignment with established development programs. Provide timely notifications to the Superintendent regarding any conditions that may pose challenges or present potential advantages for the managerial team or the organization as a whole. Demonstrate consistent work behaviors that align with the organization’s core values and comply with all governing policies, standards, procedures, and relevant legislation. Please promptly inform the manager if any responsibilities cannot be fulfilled within the allotted timeframe or if they can be accomplished with fewer resources. Prepare detailed repair reports accompanied by photographic evidence of every significant failure, maintaining thorough and accurate documentation throughout the process. Support the team in adhering to established work schedules while promptly addressing urgent tasks to enhance equipment availability and reliability. Facilitate a safe working environment for employees by proactively identifying and mitigating potential workplace hazards linked to their assigned duties. Offer specialized guidance to underground maintenance supervisors and skilled trades personnel responsible for the upkeep of mining fleets, as instructed by superintendents.

Establish the comprehensive scope of underground operations for significant projects involving the underground mining fleet. Ensure all work is executed in strict compliance with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) specifications, maintaining the highest standards of fitment and installation. Additionally, actively communicate and train team members on these best practices to uphold consistent quality and adherence to OEM requirements. Monitor underground maintenance proficiency levels, deliver targeted on-the-job training where required, uphold an accurate training register for underground maintainers, and confirm that the workforce operates independently without supervision.

• Perform ongoing evaluations of work in progress by verifying quality standards and executing daily inspections. Conduct diagnostic electrical testing and troubleshoot faults as required, performing necessary repairs on remote underground systems. Collaborate with teams to establish precise work packages and procedural frameworks, ensuring future tasks are clearly defined and actionable. Collaborate closely with planners to maintain optimal levels of spares and materials, aligning with the VMI contract obligations to MANTRA and SANDI. Identify upcoming maintenance tasks by reviewing and submitting work orders for each piece of equipment through the maintenance management system to ensure timely service scheduling. ROLE REQUIREMENTS Education & Qualification
• Relevant trade test.

Preferred trainer/coach qualification (certification or diploma). Experience With a minimum of ten years of hands-on experience in maintaining and repairing heavy mining underground equipment, the ideal candidate will bring extensive expertise to the role. Knowledge & Skills

Expérience

• Demonstrated experience in a comparable position or hands-on involvement with mechanical components of the equipment is required. Proficiency in principles and methodologies for facilitating group dynamics and cultivating productive team collaboration is essential.
• Implementation, evaluation, and work standards. Demonstrates a strong background in servicing and maintaining Sandi and Caterpillar underground mining equipment, with extensive hands-on experience.
• Demonstrated expertise with the tools and equipment essential for maintaining the GGM underground mining fleet.
• Possesses expertise in conducting equipment inspections and adhering to routine servicing protocols established at GGM. Proficient in the comprehensive planning and execution of critical maintenance operations for underground mining fleets, with specialized expertise in undercarriage systems and major component replacement initiatives.
• Extensive knowledge of record keeping. Demonstrates proficiency in the safe and responsible use of all required tools and equipment. Demonstrates proficiency in applying established procedures and techniques to address and resolve challenges effectively. Demonstrates proficiency in written communication to accurately document and maintain daily operational logs.
