WWF is actively seeking qualified candidates to fill the positions outlined below. 2.0. LANDSCAPE MANAGERS (03) 1. Landscape Manager – Kafue Location – Monze/Mazabuka 2. Landscape Manager – Upper Zambezi Location – Mongu 3. Landscape Manager – KAZA Landscape Location – Sesheke 2.1. MAJOR FUNCTIONS The Landscape Manager will spearhead strategic direction, deliver expert technical advice, and orchestrate WWF Zambia’s conservation initiatives across a designated landscape. This role is pivotal in driving impactful, community-driven, and evidence-based conservation results that are fully aligned with WWF Zambia’s Office Strategic Plan, Road Map 2030, and national conservation priorities. Key responsibilities encompass program development, execution, stakeholder collaboration, resource mobilization, performance reporting, and the supervision of field teams and cross-border conservation efforts within the landscape. 2.2. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 2.2.1. Programme Development and Implementation Develop, review, and execute a Landscape Conservation Action Plan (CAP) as well as Annual Work plans in alignment with WWF Zambia’s Office Strategic Plan. Provide strategic direction and leadership for the development and implementation of conservation initiatives, while ensuring alignment with donor mandates and WWF’s established guidelines. Deliver technical assistance in monitoring, evaluation, learning, and adaptive management through the utilization of WWF performance systems, including dashboards. Drive cross-sectoral collaboration that integrates livelihood enhancement, climate resilience, biodiversity conservation, water resource management, and sustainable financing mechanisms. Prepare and submit technical, financial, and donor reports promptly, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality and accuracy. Act as the primary liaison for one or more WWF Global Practices, including but not limited to Food, Climate & Energy, Green Economy, Governance, or Biodiversity. Partnership Development, Collaborative Initiatives & Stakeholder Relations Management Build and strengthen partnerships with government ministries (Forestry, Fisheries, Tourism, Water, Local Government), traditional authorities, community resource boards, private sector partners, and conservation NGOs. Promote and enhance collaborative efforts across programs within WWF Zambia and the broader WWF Network. Support the advancement of knowledge through research, innovation, and publications while serving as WWF Zambia’s representative on key national and regional conservation forums. Facilitate the adoption and execution of national and regional conservation policies at the landscape scale. Facilitate transboundary collaboration (e.g., shared ecosystems with Zimbabwe, Angola, Tanzania, Mozambique, DRC) when relevant. Skilled in applying integrated landscape approaches, with a proven track record of connecting biodiversity conservation, livelihoods enhancement, climate resilience, and governance frameworks. Oversee collaborative frameworks involving government entities, traditional leaders, local communities, and private sector stakeholders. We are seeking to strengthen partnerships, foster collaboration, and engage effectively with stakeholders to drive mutual growth and innovation. Build and strengthen partnerships with government ministries (Forestry, Fisheries, Tourism, Water, Local Government), traditional authorities, community resource boards, private sector partners, and conservation NGOs. We foster collaborative efforts across programs within WWF Zambia and the broader WWF Network. WWF Zambia is responsible for driving knowledge creation through research, innovation, and publications while serving as a key representative in national and regional conservation forums. Facilitate the domestication and execution of national and regional conservation policies at the landscape scale. Promote collaborative initiatives across shared ecological regions, including those in Zimbabwe, Angola, Tanzania, Mozambique, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, when deemed necessary. Renowned expertise in integrated landscape methodologies that effectively connect biodiversity conservation, livelihood enhancement, and climate resilience with robust governance frameworks. Oversee cross-functional stakeholder engagement initiatives, collaborating with governmental bodies, traditional leaders, community representatives, and private sector entities. 2.2.4. Resource Mobilisation and Budget Management Craft compelling and financially feasible conservation proposals to advance WWF Zambia’s fundraising initiatives. Direct the preparation of budgets, financial forecasting, and expenditure monitoring for all landscape initiatives in partnership with the Finance Unit. Deliver meticulous and transparent oversight of WWF Zambia’s assets and resources across the designated landscape, ensuring optimal utilization and accountability. 2.2.5. Leadership and People Management Deliver consistent, hands-on leadership and guidance to all field and program personnel within the designated area of responsibility. Develop and implement annual operational plans and individual performance goals; facilitate regular performance evaluation sessions. Assess organizational training requirements in collaboration with the People & Culture team to design and implement effective capacity-building initiatives. Ensure adherence to the organization’s core values, maintain accountability, and uphold ethical and compliance standards in all field operations. Facilitate effective conflict resolution and cultivate a positive team culture among the landscape teams. 2.3. QUALIFICATIONS Obtained a Master’s degree in Natural Resource Management, Environmental Science, Ecology, Forestry, Fisheries, Wildlife Management, Conservation Biology, Climate Change, Sustainable Development, Environmental Economics, or a closely related discipline. Advanced management and leadership training would be considered a beneficial qualification. Professional experience of at least a decade, with five or more years spent in a managerial capacity within conservation or natural resource management, is required. With a strong background in program development and management, expertise in budgeting, technical and financial reporting, and adherence to donor compliance requirements is essential. Professional experience collaborating across government agencies, community organizations, private sector entities, and conservation partners throughout Zambia are required. 2.4. SKILLS AND COMPETENCES Adapt and respond with agility through dynamic and flexible management approaches. Demonstrated expertise in designing, planning, and managing programs effectively. Proficiency in leadership, team management, coaching, and mentoring is required. Proven proficiency in resolving conflicts, making decisive choices, and addressing challenges effectively. Exceptional proficiency in communication, negotiation, and the cultivation of professional relationships is essential. Demonstrated expertise in financial management and budget oversight is required.
