About Dogtech Security Dogtech Security is a professional K9 security services company providing reliable and comprehensive K9 security solutions to clients across Zambia. As our business continues to grow, we are seeking a suitably qualified, experienced, and highly motivated Accountant to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the company’s day-to-day accounting and financial administration, maintaining accurate financial records, supporting management decision-making, and ensuring compliance with applicable Zambian tax, statutory, and financial reporting requirements.

Key Responsibilities The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

Financial Accounting & Reporting Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records and financial transactions. Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports. Prepare income statements, balance sheets, cash-flow reports, and other financial statements as required. Perform monthly bank, cash, supplier, customer, and general ledger reconciliations. Maintain the general ledger and ensure all transactions are correctly classified and allocated. Monitor accounts payable and accounts receivable. Prepare and process supplier payments and customer invoices. Monitor outstanding customer balances and follow up on overdue accounts. Maintain proper records of company assets, liabilities, income, and expenditure. Assist management with financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and cash-flow planning.

Tax & Statutory Compliance Ensure timely preparation and submission of applicable statutory and tax returns. Ensure compliance with applicable Zambian tax legislation and regulations. Maintain accurate VAT records and assist with VAT returns and reconciliations where applicable. Assist with PAYE and other applicable payroll-related statutory obligations. Maintain proper documentation and records for tax and statutory purposes. Liaise with the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA), external auditors, and other relevant authorities when required. Keep up to date with changes in Zambian tax and accounting requirements.

Payroll & Employee-Related Accounting Assist with the preparation and processing of monthly payroll. Ensure payroll records are accurate and properly maintained. Assist with the calculation and reconciliation of statutory payroll deductions. Maintain appropriate confidentiality regarding employee salaries and financial information. Ensure payroll-related accounting entries are correctly recorded.

Procurement, Inventory & Expense Control Review purchase requisitions, purchase orders, supplier invoices, and payment requests. Ensure appropriate supporting documentation is available before payments are processed. Monitor company expenditure and identify unusual or unauthorised transactions. Assist with the implementation and maintenance of internal financial controls. Maintain proper records of company inventory and assist with periodic stock reconciliations. Ensure expenses are correctly allocated to the relevant ledger accounts, departments, projects, or cost centres.

Audit & Internal Controls Prepare financial schedules and supporting documentation for external and internal audits. Assist auditors with requested information and documentation. Maintain a proper and organised accounting filing system. Identify weaknesses in financial controls and recommend improvements. Help prevent and detect financial irregularities, fraud, and unauthorised expenditure. Ensure proper segregation of duties and adherence to company financial procedures.

General Duties Provide accurate financial information and advice to management. Assist in developing and monitoring annual budgets. Support management with financial decision-making and business planning. Prepare financial reports and analysis as requested by management. Maintain strict confidentiality of all company financial and employee information. Perform any other reasonable accounting and financial duties assigned by management.

Required Qualifications Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

Essential Qualifications A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from a recognised institution. Professional accounting qualification or progress towards a recognised professional qualification, such as: ZICA – Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants; and/or ACCA – Association of Chartered Certified Accountants; and/or CIMA – Chartered Institute of Management Accountants; and/or ZIMCO/other recognised professional accounting qualification, where applicable. Candidates who are ZICA-qualified, ACCA-qualified, or Chartered Accountants will be strongly preferred. Must have a valid ZICA practising certificate/licence where required for the duties being performed.

Professional Registration Membership of ZICA is highly desirable and will be required depending on the scope of the position and applicable professional requirements. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate that their professional qualifications and memberships are genuine and verifiable.

Experience Requirements Minimum of 3–5 years’ relevant accounting experience, preferably in a commercial or corporate environment. Experience in a security services, transport, logistics, construction, agriculture, or other operationally intensive business will be an added advantage. Practical experience with Zambian tax and statutory compliance. Experience in preparing monthly management accounts and financial reports. Experience with payroll processing and statutory deductions. Experience with bank reconciliations, supplier reconciliations, customer accounts, and general ledger management. Experience preparing accounts for external audit. Experience with budgeting, cash-flow management, and financial analysis. Experience using accounting software and Microsoft Excel.

Technical Skills The successful candidate should have: Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting. Good understanding of applicable Zambian tax laws and statutory requirements. Strong knowledge of bookkeeping and double-entry accounting. Excellent Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, reconciliations, and financial analysis. Experience with accounting and/or ERP software. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to analyse financial information and identify discrepancies. Ability to prepare clear and accurate financial reports. Strong organisational and time-management skills. Ability to meet strict reporting and statutory deadlines.

Additional Requirements Applicants must have the legal right to work in Zambia. All academic and professional qualifications must be from recognised institutions and must be verifiable. Professional memberships and certificates may be subject to verification. A clean criminal record and satisfactory background checks may be required as part of the recruitment process due to the nature of Dogtech Security’s business. The successful candidate may be required to provide references from previous employers. Candidates must be willing to comply with Dogtech Security’s internal policies, procedures, and code of conduct.
