Job Overview The Marine Logistics Coordinator will play a pivotal role in coordinating maritime shipments, managing documentation, and ensuring compliance with international trade regulations. This position bridges the gap between sea freight operations and inland distribution, working closely with shipping lines, customs authorities, and internal stakeholders to optimize cargo flow. Prepare and verify all shipping documentation, including bills of lading, customs declarations, and import/export permits. Liaise with shipping agents, freight forwarders, and customs officials to ensure timely clearance and delivery. Track vessel schedules, berth allocations, and cargo readiness, providing proactive updates to internal teams. Analyze freight rates, negotiate contracts with carriers, and recommend cost‑saving opportunities. Maintain accurate records in Maersk’s digital logistics platform and generate performance reports. Support the implementation of digital tools such as blockchain tracking and IoT sensors for cargo visibility. Ensure compliance with international maritime regulations, safety standards, and Maersk’s internal policies. Required Skills Strong knowledge of maritime shipping processes, Incoterms, and customs procedures. Excellent communication and negotiation skills with internal and external partners. Proficiency in logistics software (e.g., Maersk Spot, SAP TM) and Microsoft Office Suite. Analytical mindset with ability to interpret data and generate actionable insights. Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously. Fluency in English; knowledge of French or Kinyarwanda is an advantage. Education A Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Maritime Studies, International Business, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as FIATA, CSCMP, or equivalent are considered a plus. Experience Applicants should have 3‑5 years of hands‑on experience in maritime logistics, freight forwarding, or supply chain coordination, preferably within an international shipping environment. Experience with East African trade lanes and familiarity with Rwanda’s customs regulations will be highly valued. Salary The competitive salary range for this role is SSP 800,000 to 1,200,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and allowances may be offered.
