KALUNGWISHI ESTATES LIMITED (KASAMA SUGAR) JOB OPPORTUNITY Our Client Kalungwishi Estates Limited, based in Kasama, is inviting suitably qualified, experienced, and self-motivated individuals to join our operations team in the following positions: 1. MECHANICAL FITTER Job Purpose: The Mechanical Fitter will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and servicing of mechanical equipment and machinery used in sugarcane processing and sugar production operations. The role ensures maximum equipment availability, operational efficiency, and adherence to safety standards. Key Responsibilities: Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical equipment and production machinery. Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on pumps, conveyors, gearboxes, mills, valves, compressors, and hydraulic systems. Diagnose mechanical faults and recommend effective repair solutions. Ensure smooth operation of sugar processing machinery during production. Participate in shutdown maintenance activities and emergency breakdown repairs. Interpret engineering drawings, manuals, and technical specifications. Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety standards. Maintain maintenance records and prepare technical reports. Work closely with electrical and production teams to minimize downtime. Monitor machine performance and recommend improvements. Qualifications & Experience: Diploma in Mechanical Fitting, Mechanical Engineering, or related field. Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience in a manufacturing plant, sugar processing plant, mining, or heavy industry environment. Experience working with industrial machinery and rotating equipment is an added advantage. Member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) is an added advantage. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Required Competencies: Good mechanical aptitude. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Team player with strong communication skills. High level of safety awareness. Ability to work shifts when required. 2. BOILER OPERATOR Job Purpose: The Boiler Operator will be responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining industrial boilers and steam generation systems to ensure uninterrupted and efficient sugar production operations. Key Responsibilities: Operate and monitor boilers, steam systems, and associated equipment. Ensure proper pressure, temperature, and water levels are maintained. Conduct routine inspections and identify operational abnormalities. Maintain boiler logs, operational records, and safety checklists. Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of boiler systems. Respond promptly to boiler alarms and emergency shutdowns. Ensure compliance with boiler safety regulations and company procedures. Coordinate with maintenance teams during repairs and servicing. Monitor fuel consumption and optimize boiler efficiency. Maintain cleanliness and safety of the boiler house. Qualifications & Experience: Grade 12 Certificate. Boiler Operator Certificate or relevant technical qualification. Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience operating industrial boilers in manufacturing or processing plants. Knowledge of steam systems and boiler safety procedures. Experience in sugar processing or agro-processing industries will be an added advantage. Required Competencies: Strong understanding of boiler operations and safety standards. Ability to detect and respond to operational faults. Attention to detail and accuracy. Good communication and teamwork skills. Ability to work shifts and extended hours when necessary. 3. TURBINE OPERATOR Job Purpose: The Turbine Operator will be responsible for operating and monitoring steam turbine generators and auxiliary equipment to ensure stable power generation and efficient factory operations within the sugar processing plant. Key Responsibilities: Operate and monitor steam turbines and power generation systems. Ensure turbines operate within required pressure, temperature, and load parameters. Monitor gauges, meters, and control panels to detect abnormalities. Conduct routine operational checks and report defects promptly. Coordinate with boiler operators and maintenance personnel for efficient plant operations. Maintain operational logs and production records. Perform minor troubleshooting and assist during maintenance activities. Ensure adherence to safety and environmental standards. Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at increasing plant efficiency. Participate in emergency response and shutdown procedures. Qualifications & Experience: Diploma or Craft Certificate in Power Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field. Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience operating turbines or power generation equipment in an industrial environment. Knowledge of steam turbine systems and power plant operations. Experience in sugar manufacturing or heavy industry will be an added advantage. Required Competencies: Good analytical and technical skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong safety consciousness. Good communication and reporting skills. Ability to work under pressure and during shift schedules.
