JOB SUMMARY The History and Geography Teacher delivers engaging instruction based on the Cambridge Curriculum, fostering critical thinking, inquiry, and global citizenship in a safe and inclusive environment. The successful candidate will also contribute to curriculum development, enhance student achievement, and engage in effective teaching, assessment, and collaboration within the school community. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Teaching and Learning Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging History and Geography lessons aligned with the Cambridge Curriculum and examination requirements. Develop comprehensive schemes of work and lesson plans that meet curriculum objectives. Establish clear learning objectives and success criteria for lessons, units, and projects. Deliver high-quality, student-centred instruction using differentiated teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs. Maintain up-to-date subject knowledge and integrate current developments into classroom instruction. Facilitate classroom discussions that promote critical thinking, historical inquiry, geographical analysis, and respectful debate. Develop students' research, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills. Integrate educational technology, digital resources, GIS tools where appropriate, and online research platforms to enrich learning. Organise educational field trips, geographical fieldwork, debates, simulations, project-based learning, and other experiential learning opportunities. Promote international-mindedness, intercultural understanding, environmental stewardship, and responsible global citizenship. Student Support and Assessment Assess student learning using a variety of formative and summative assessment strategies. Monitor student progress and maintain accurate academic records. Provide timely, constructive, and individualized feedback to support continuous improvement. Identify students requiring additional academic support and implement appropriate intervention strategies. Mentor students on academic performance, study skills, personal development, and goal setting. Prepare examination papers, report cards, progress reports, and assessment records. Participate actively in parent-teacher conferences and communicate student progress effectively. Use assessment data to improve instructional planning and student outcomes. Classroom Management Establish and maintain a positive, respectful, safe, and inclusive classroom environment. Promote student engagement, participation, independence, and accountability for learning. Implement effective classroom management strategies consistent with school policies. Foster collaborative learning through individual and group activities. Ensure student wellbeing and safeguard learners in accordance with school safeguarding policies. Curriculum Development Contribute to the review, evaluation, and continuous improvement of the History and Geography curriculum. Develop innovative teaching resources and instructional materials. Collaborate with colleagues to ensure curriculum continuity and interdisciplinary learning opportunities. Support curriculum alignment with Cambridge International standards and school expectations. Participate in departmental curriculum planning and academic quality assurance initiatives. Job Requirements Education Bachelor's Degree in History, Geography, Education, or a related discipline. Postgraduate qualification in Education or a related field. Teaching qualification (PGCE, PGDE, QTS or equivalent). Experience Minimum of 2–3 years' teaching experience in History and/or Geography. Experience teaching the Cambridge Curriculum or another international curriculum. Experience teaching IGCSE and A-Level History and Geography. Experience integrating educational technology into classroom instruction. Applicant profile
