Job Details Description The Community Engagement Coordinator will act as a vital liaison between IFA and the local communities residing in and adjacent to Lukasz and Lumber National Parks in Zambia’s Eastern Province. This position plays a pivotal role in strengthening IFA’s dedication to fostering human-wildlife coexistence by actively involving and empowering communities as key custodians of the surrounding ecosystems. The incumbent will report directly to the Field Operations Manager. Manager The Coordinator will spearhead efforts to cultivate trust, foster meaningful dialogue, and implement actionable, locally tailored solutions that harmonize conservation initiatives with community prosperity. This role is central to IFA’s Room to Roam initiative, which aims to create a connected and flourishing ecosystem for wildlife throughout East and Southern Africa. As Community Engagement Coordinator, you will play a key part in executing coexistence strategies tailored to the specific needs and goals of local communities, with a strong focus on regions experiencing recurring human-wildlife conflict. The position demands a blend of technical expertise, political and cultural awareness, strong interpersonal skills, and an unwavering dedication to promoting equity and inclusion. Company review platform The Coordinator will collaborate extensively with local governance entities, including traditional authorities, Community Resource Boards, and district-level government representatives, as well as critical national-level stakeholders like the Department of National Parks and Wildlife (DNPW). In partnership with these groups, the Community Engagement Coordinator will foster livelihood opportunities aligned with conservation goals, uphold social safeguards, and empower communities—particularly women and youth—to serve as essential contributors in achieving sustainable conservation outcomes.
