MULTIPLE POSITIONS AVAILABLE – MECHANICAL ARTISAN (FITTER) & ELECTRICIAN Karimi Aqua Feed Limited is currently seeking applications from qualified individuals to fill the positions with Mechanical Artisan (Fitter) and Electrician. The primary work location for this role will be the Karimi Aqua Feed factory in Savona, with occasional assignments at the Lusaka Office. MECHANICAL ARTISAN (FITTER) – X 01 We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Artisan (Fitter) to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in mechanical fitting, assembly, and maintenance of machinery and equipment. You will be responsible for interpreting technical drawings, performing precision measurements, and ensuring all components are fitted correctly to meet engineering specifications. Additionally, you will conduct routine inspections, troubleshoot mechanical issues, and perform repairs as needed to maintain optimal operational efficiency. Proficiency in using hand and power tools, as well as familiarity with safety protocols, is essential. The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, along with relevant vocational training or apprenticeship in mechanical fitting. Prior experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment is highly desirable. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: We conduct thorough inspections, routine servicing, and necessary repairs on feed mill machinery, such as conveyors, bucket elevators, mixers, pellet mills, hammer mills, augers, gearboxes, pumps, and compressors. Diagnose mechanical issues promptly and perform necessary repairs to reduce production interruptions. Conduct preventive and predictive maintenance tasks in strict adherence to established maintenance schedules. Responsibilities include the installation, alignment, assembly, and commissioning of mechanical equipment and components. Replace defective or worn mechanical components such as bearings, shafts, chains, belts, seals, and couplings. Perform comprehensive equipment inspections to identify any defects or potential failures and document findings accordingly. Interpret mechanical drawings, equipment manuals, and maintenance procedures with precision and clarity. Ensure strict adherence to all safety protocols, particularly lockout/ragout (LOT) procedures, while upholding exceptional housekeeping standards. Maintain precise maintenance documentation while contributing to ongoing enhancement projects. Collaborate effectively with production and maintenance teams to enhance equipment reliability and optimize plant availability. QUALIFICATION AND KEY ATTRIBUTES: Obtained a full Grade Twelve School Certificate (GCE). A Diploma or Trade Certificate in Mechanical Fitting—or an equivalent qualification in a related mechanical trade—is required. Professional Rewriting: A minimum of two years of hands-on experience in mechanical maintenance of stationary plant equipment is required. Possesses a strong proficiency in rotating machinery, including bearings, gearboxes, pumps, conveyors, as well as hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Demonstrates expertise in aligning equipment, assembling mechanical components, diagnosing faults, and performing precise measurements. Proficient in analyzing mechanical drawings and technical manuals with precision and clarity. Proven track record in implementing and managing preventive and predictive maintenance strategies to enhance equipment reliability and minimize downtime. Having prior experience in welding and fabrication would be beneficial. Proficiency in computer operations and prior experience with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) would be advantageous. Possesses robust analytical capabilities and a proven aptitude for solving complex problems. Meticulous attention to detail and precision are essential requirements for this role. Electrician – X 01 The Electrician – X 01 role requires a licensed professional with proven expertise in electrical systems’ installation, maintenance, and repair. Responsibilities include diagnosing faults, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations under the National Electrical Code. Applicants must possess a minimum of five years’ experience in commercial or industrial electrical work, hold a current journeyman or master electrician license, and demonstrate proficiency in reading blueprints and schematics. Additionally, candidates should exhibit strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in fast-paced environments. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Install, inspect, maintain, and repair electrical systems, motors, control panels, motor control centers (MCCs), variable frequency drives (VFDs), and production machinery to ensure optimal performance and safety. Diagnose electrical faults efficiently to reduce production downtime and ensure operational continuity. Execute routine and predictive maintenance tasks on electrical systems and apparatus. Review and analyze electrical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams to extract essential information and ensure accurate interpretation. Install, configure, and fine-tune electrical instruments, sensors, and control systems to ensure precise operation and adherence to specifications. Ensure adherence to established electrical safety regulations, LOT protocols, and organizational policies. Maintain precise maintenance documentation and promptly report any equipment defects. Assist with the modernization of support equipment, oversee its commissioning, and contribute to ongoing enhancement initiatives. Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to uphold equipment reliability and operational efficiency. Ensure a consistently clean and organized workspace while fully complying with all health, safety, and environmental regulations and protocols. QUALIFICATION AND KEY ATTRIBUTES: Full GCE Ordinary Level certification is required, equivalent to a completed Grade Twelve School Certificate. A Diploma or Trade Certificate in Electrical Engineering is required. Holds a valid Electrician’s License or an equivalent trade certification. With a minimum of two years of hands-on experience in electrical maintenance for fixed plant equipment. Possesses in-depth expertise in motors, starters, MCCs, PLCs, VFDs, sensors, instrumentation, and industrial automation systems. As a Chartered Member of the Engineering Institute of Zambia (LIZ), you will be part of a prestigious professional body dedicated to advancing engineering excellence in Zambia. Proficiency in computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and project management software is essential. A technical certification in electrical engineering would be advantageous. Demonstrated ability to analyze and understand electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals with a high degree of accuracy. Demonstrates a robust ability to analyze complex situations and develop innovative solutions to problems. Ensures meticulous attention to detail and maintains a high level of accuracy in all tasks performed. Proficient in fostering clear communication and collaborative teamwork.
