Role Purpose and Key Responsibilities

Role Purpose: The Mobile Radio Access Network (RAN) Engineer is tasked with designing, planning, optimizing, and advancing 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G networks to uphold exceptional coverage, capacity, service quality, and overall customer satisfaction. This position enhances network performance by conducting tasks such as radio network planning, dimensioning, frequency allocation, traffic forecasting, capacity and coverage assessments, performance evaluations, and working alongside cross-functional teams to ensure dependable and high-efficiency network operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct radio network planning and dimensioning for both new and existing sites to ensure optimal coverage, capacity, and performance. Conduct coverage and capacity analyses by leveraging specialized planning tools, such as Atoll, to evaluate network performance and optimize resource allocation. Develop and engineer innovative radio systems to facilitate the expansion of network infrastructure, implement advanced modernization initiatives, and execute technology upgrades. Develop frequency plans, manage neighbor relations, and configure relevant parameters to ensure optimal network performance and compliance with technical standards. Analyze historical traffic data to identify patterns and project future capacity needs with precision. Assess network performance metrics and identify areas for enhancement, providing strategic recommendations to optimize overall efficiency and reliability. Assist site acquisition teams in assessing candidates and forecasting coverage needs. Design propagation models and conduct coverage simulations to evaluate wireless network performance. Ensure that the deployed network configurations consistently align with the planned configurations to maintain accuracy and adherence to specifications. Engage in the execution of network deployment, system integration, commissioning, and acceptance procedures. Compile strategic planning reports and deliver data-driven recommendations to senior leadership for informed decision-making purposes. Work collaboratively with optimization, transmission, deployment, and operations teams to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Knowledge, Qualification, Skills and Experience

A bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required. Professional certifications focused on mobile technologies are considered a valuable asset. 2–5 years of hands-on experience in radio planning, optimization, or network engineering. Proven expertise in mobile network deployment processes and performance evaluation methodologies. Radio network planning and optimization. GSM, UMTS, LTE, and 5G NR technologies are among the areas of expertise required for this role. RF propagation and link budget analysis. Frequency and interference management. Antenna systems and RF design. KPI analysis and performance monitoring. Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Demonstrates expertise in transmission systems and core network interfaces.
