HSE & Dock Operations Officer
Banarly Nigeria Ltd. is seeking an HSE & Dock Operations Officer for its site in Lagos, Nigeria. This full-time position (8am-5pm) is based in the manufacturing and warehousing sector. The offered salary ranges from 250,000 to 400,000 NGN.
Job Context
The HSE & Dock Operations Officer is responsible for implementing and enforcing all health, safety, and environment policies on the floating dock, ship repair yard, fabrication workshop, and associated maritime operations. This role combines hands-on field safety supervision with administrative responsibilities, ensuring compliance with company procedures.
Missions
Health and Safety Management:
Conduct daily safety inspections of the floating dock, workshops, vessels, and work sites. Ensure compliance with company HSE policies and legal regulations. Monitor and enforce the use of PPE. Lead safety briefings. Participate in risk assessments and Job Hazard Analyses (JHA). Investigate incidents, near misses, unsafe acts, and unsafe conditions. Follow up on corrective and preventive actions until closure. Maintain safety statistics and performance indicators.
Permit to Work Administration:
Administer and monitor permit-to-work systems, including: hot work, confined space entry, work at height, electrical isolation (LOTO), lifting operations. Verify atmospheric testing requirements before confined space entry. Ensure permits are properly completed and closed out.
Floating Dock and Maritime Operations:
Monitor docking and undocking activities. Supervise safety during vessel repairs and maintenance. Ensure safe access arrangements between vessels and the dock. Monitor mooring operations and maritime hazards. Coordinate emergency preparedness on the floating dock.
Fabrication and Workshop Safety:
Supervise welding, cutting, grinding, and fabrication activities. Monitor the safe use of cranes, forklifts, and lifting equipment. Ensure proper storage and handling of gas cylinders and hazardous materials. Verify compliance with fire prevention measures during hot work.
Emergency Response and First Aid:
Act as designated first aider. Maintain first aid stations and emergency equipment. Participate in fire drills and emergency simulations. Coordinate emergency response until professional medical assistance arrives. Maintain emergency
