Description: WBG Pioneers, the World Bank Group's internship program, offers undergraduate and graduate students a high-impact learning experience at the heart of global development. Participants gain hands-on experience in a diverse and dynamic environment, bring fresh perspectives and innovative ideas, and connect with international professionals working to end poverty on a livable planet.

Context: The Governance Practice supports the Government of Liberia in advancing a broad governance reform agenda covering public financial management, domestic resource mobilization, and governance in key sectors such as forestry and mining. The work program includes supporting the implementation of the Governance Reform and Accountability Transformation (GREAT) Project, engaging on fiscal and institutional reforms, and strengthening governance arrangements in natural resource sectors.

Missions: The intern will support coordination, monitoring, and analytical tasks within this portfolio, contributing to effective implementation and sustained engagement with government counterparts and development partners.

Responsibilities:

  • Support coordination of governance work program activities, including tracking actions, deadlines, and deliverables.

  • Conduct regular follow-up with government counterparts on agreed actions and reform progress.

  • Assist in the preparation of aide-memoires, briefing notes, presentations, and mission documents.

  • Support engagement on domestic resource mobilization and fiscal governance topics through desk research and synthesis.

  • Contribute to work related to governance in key sectors (e.g., forestry, mining), including note preparation and stakeholder mapping.

  • Support the organization of workshops, meetings, and stakeholder consultations.

  • Facilitate coordination with development partners through preparation of inputs and follow-up on joint actions.Selection Criteria:

  • Graduate studies in public policy, economics, governance, public administration, or a related field.

  • Strong interest in governance reforms, including fiscal policy, domestic resource mobilization, and natural resource governance.

  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate tasks and follow up with stakeholders in a professional setting.

  • Strong writing and communication skills, with the ability to produce clear and concise outputs.

  • Ability to work effectively with counterparts
