Job description We are looking for an Operation Officer to take care of our embedded lending business line (B2B2C). Being an operations officer at a credit-led fintech company in Africa can be a rewarding and challenging role. Fintech companies in Africa are playing a crucial role in expanding access to financial services, promoting financial inclusion, and driving economic growth. As an operation officer in this sector, your responsibilities would be diverse and impactful. This role requires a mix of strategic thinking, operational excellence, adaptability, and a deep understanding of the local financial landscape. It's a role that plays a critical part in driving financial inclusion and economic development in the region. Here's an overview of what your role might entail: Responsibilities Product Strategic Planning: Collaborate with the executive team and product owners to develop and implement a product roadmap aligned with the company's mission and goals. Requirements Collaborating with the customer department, to understand and anticipate clients needs and translate them into product requirements; Ensure a smooth handover of the product requirements to the Product Owners Progress tracking: Monitor project progress against the schedule and budget, making necessary adjustments. Quality Assurance & Quality Control: Ensure that the solution aligns with the predefined quality standards. Operations & Risk Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate operational risks. This includes managing credit risk, fraud prevention, and data security to protect both the company and its customers. Process Optimization: Continuously evaluate and improve operational processes to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and deliver a seamless customer experience. This might involve automating tasks, streamlining workflows, and implementing new technologies. Partnership Management: Build and maintain relationships with key partners, such as banks, payment providers, and regulatory bodies, to facilitate business operations and compliance. Scaling Operations: Plan for and manage the company's growth. As fintech companies expand, they often face scalability challenges, and your role would involve finding solutions to these challenges. Performance Management Financial Management: Oversee the budget of our loan portfolio collateral deposit and ensure that resources are allocated efficiently. Reporting and KPIs: In collaboration with our Data Analytics team, design and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the success of the company's overall performance. Provide regular reports to the executive team. Community Engagement: Build relationships within the local fintech community and contribute to the growth and development of the industry in Africa. This can involve participating in industry events and initiatives.

Requirements

  • Fluent in English and French, a multilingual speaker is a plus.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with close attention to detail

  • Strong knowledge of the financial services industry, first hand experience with SME lending is a plus
  • Open-minded and able to work with people from different backgrounds and cultures
  • Cultivate the start-up spirit and look for innovation and excellence
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team in a distributed working environment
  • Ability to learn and adapt quickly in fast-changing environments
