The UNFPA is seeking an Individual Consultant to lead a confidential enquiry into maternal deaths in Ghana, aiming to identify root causes and provide evidence-based recommendations to improve maternal healthcare. The consultant will work with a technical working group and conduct a comprehensive review of maternal deaths in high-burden health facilities. Responsibilities include analyzing causes of death using established frameworks, assessing the quality of institutional care, and formulating actionable recommendations. This role is crucial in the effort to reduce preventable maternal mortality and enhance healthcare quality in Ghana. Medical Degree - MB ChB or equivalent 10 years' experience in Maternal Health Strong understanding of Ghana's health care system Postgraduate training in public health or related areas (advantageous) Experience in public health research and stakeholder engagement Ability to deliver analytical reports Excellent written and verbal communication skills Fluency in English and any local language
