About the assignment
Reference: EC-MENA/2026/RP/0008 – “Communication outreach and engagement on EU policies in North Africa, the Middle East and the Gulf” (restricted procedure).
Contracting authority: European Commission, Directorate-General for the Middle East, North Africa and the Gulf (DG MENA). The contract provides content and logistical support to DG MENA’s day-to-day communication: campaigns and social media content, events, and media relations, targeting audiences in both the EU and the wider region.
Working language: English (occasionally French and Arabic).
Duration: up to 36 months.
The role
As Media Relations Manager, you will be responsible for the implementation of Component 3 “Media relations” – press trips, press events, press packs, media monitoring and analysis with journalists from the EU and the region – under the creative lead of Key Expert 2, the supervision of the Team Leader, and with the support of a team of non-key experts.
Expérience
University (or equivalent) degree in media, communication, marketing or advertising – or, in its absence, 5 additional years of professional experience in one of these fields (on top of the general professional experience below).
English at C2 level, demonstrated by certificate or relevant past experience.
General professional experience
Minimum 5 years of professional experience in a field relevant to the contract.
Specific professional experience
Minimum 3 years of professional experience in managing media relations activities.
Considered an asset
Experience in communication on EU policies and programmes, notably EU neighbourhood policies and cooperation with the Middle East, North Africa and/or the Gulf region.
Experience in communication activities targeting audiences in North Africa, the Middle East and Gulf region.
Portfolio
A presentation of the media relations projects managed by the candidate, supporting the specific experience above, must be submitted with the application.
