Workshop Manager Technology Black Magic Group Port Elizabeth, South Africa Until 2026/08/11 Job description Purpose Job Purpose: To manage and oversee the daily operations of the vehicle workshop, ensuring that all trucks, vans, and company vehicles are maintained and repaired in a timely, cost-effective, and safe manner, in compliance with relevant legislation and company policies. Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the maintenance, servicing, and repair of a fleet of trucks, LDVs, and yellow machines.

• Schedule and allocate work to technicians, ensuring optimal productivity and quality.

• Manage workshop staff including mechanics, technicians, apprentices, and admin support.

• Ensure all maintenance and repair work complies with health and safety standards and roadworthiness requirements.

• Monitor vehicle downtime and implement strategies to minimize disruption to operations.

• Control workshop costs including labour, parts, and external repairs.

• Maintain accurate service records using a Asset Management System (AMS) Dsolve.

• Liaise with internal departments and external suppliers regarding parts, warranty claims, and specialist repairs.

• Conduct regular inspections of vehicles and workshop equipment to ensure compliance with safety and legal requirements.

• Ensure the workshop operates in line with Industry best practises or other relevant regulatory frameworks.

• Support the recruitment, training, and development of workshop staff.

• Manage stock levels of parts and consumables.

• Technical qualification in Motor Vehicle Engineering Red seal (e.g., NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent).

Expérience

• Proven experience in a similar workshop supervisory or managerial role, ideally within a commercial vehicle or HGV, TMM environment.

• In-depth knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and diagnostic repair for trucks and vans.

• Understanding of compliance and legal regulations.

• Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.

• Proficient in using workshop or fleet maintenance software.

• Full, clean driving licence (Code 14 licence desirable). Competencies
