The Denis & Lenora Foretia Foundation is looking for a Director of Economic Affairs Division
The Denis and Lenora Foretia Foundation is seeking an experienced Director of Economic Affairs to lead the Economic Affairs Division of the NKAFU POLICY INSTITUTE in Yaoundé. The full-time position requires an advanced degree in economics, at least 5 years of experience, and a strong track record in high-level research, policy engagement, and team leadership.
Roles and responsibility
• Managing and directing all teams within the Economic Affairs Division
• Providing strategic leadership for economic research and policy delivery
• Designing innovative programs and managing institutional change
• Coordinating divisional activities to ensure timely and efficient project execution
• Strengthening the reputation, influence, and impact of the NKAFU POLICY INSTITUTE externally
• Integrating sound economic theory into project proposals and implementation
• Representing the institute in public forums, media, and with policy leaders
• Building strategic partnerships with senior politicians, business leaders, and civil society
• Advising on the technical quality and accuracy of economic research projects
• Developing joint initiatives with leading economists and academic figures
• Leading the conceptualization and fundraising for priority economic projects
Key qualifications and skills
• Deep understanding of contemporary economic debates in Cameroon and sub-Saharan Africa
• Advanced technical skills in quantitative and statistical analysis
• Experience or strong aptitude in macroeconomic model-building
• Proven history of conceptualizing and executing independent economic research
• Track record in managing policy-oriented or development projects
• Proficient IT skills and a documented publication history
• Mandatory bilingualism (English and French)
Education and experience
• Minimum requirement: PhD or equivalent advanced degree in Economics or a related field
• Experience: At least 5 years of demonstrable experience in development economics, academia, or multilateral organizations
• Capacity for high-level creative and critical economic analysis
• Successful track record in engaging with high-level decision-makers
• Exceptional writing and communication skills
• Ability to lead and inspire a specialized small team
