The FAO is seeking a National Land Cover and GIS Specialist to support the Enhancing Regional Technical Capacities for Sustainable Land Monitoring and Development project in Ghana. The role involves coordinating land cover activities, providing technical support in GIS and remote sensing, and facilitating knowledge sharing among stakeholders. The incumbent will also assist in data collection, training, and the development of technical guidance documents. This position is based in Accra, Ghana, and requires collaboration with various national and regional partners. Bachelor's degree in Agricultural, GIS, Geography, Environmental Sciences or related field At least 5 years of relevant experience in spatial data handling and analysis Working knowledge of English (level C), knowledge of French is an advantage National of Ghana Experience in programming languages such as R and Python for GIS/RS Experience in satellite image analysis and geospatial data management Familiarity with cloud-computing platforms like SEPAL and Google Earth Engine Experience in capacity development and knowledge transfer on GIS/RS
