We are looking for a Specialist Hydraulic / Instrument Engineer to join FPSO Petrojarl Kong. Altera has a 15-year contract with ENI. Baleine phase II consists of FPSO Petrojarl Kong and FSO Yamoussoukro. Ensure that all day-to-day activities related to hydraulic, instrument, control, and automation systems are planned and executed safely and efficiently, in full compliance with company HSEQ policies, applicable laws and regulations, contractual requirements, and relevant management systems.

The Specialist Hydraulic / Instrument Engineer is a highly experienced, multiskilled offshore professional with competence across Instrumentation (E&I) and Hydraulic / Mechanical disciplines. The role is responsible for the operation, maintenance, commissioning, troubleshooting, and optimization of electronic, electro-hydraulic, and hydraulic control systems associated with offshore equipment, including but not limited to cranes, winches, valves, actuators, motors, and associated control systems.

Perform operation and planned preventive or corrective maintenance of hydraulic electronic and instrument control systems supporting offshore cranes, winches, valves, actuators, motors, and other safety- and production-critical equipment, in accordance with approved procedures and the Planned Maintenance System. Apply advanced offshore experience to lead and support maintenance planning, work preparation, execution, and verification of complex hydraulic and instrument-related tasks. Ensure that day-to-day activities are carried out in a safe and healthy manner and that environmental impacts remain within acceptable limits. Troubleshoot, fault-find, and repair complex failures in hydraulic circuits, electro-hydraulic systems, instrumentation loops, sensors, control panels, PLC/automation interfaces, and associated power and control systems for above mentioned systems Ensure that hydraulic and instrument systems are correctly commissioned, tested, functionally verified, and handed over following maintenance, modifications, or new installations. Maintain accurate records and documentation for maintenance, modifications, calibration, testing, and commissioning activities, and report system status, deviations, or changes to the responsible supervisor. Execute and verify small bore tubing installation, replacement, repair, and modification works, ensuring compliance with industry best practices, pressure integrity requirements, cleanliness standards, and documented training requirements. Provide technical guidance and mentoring to technicians and operations personnel on hydraulic and instrument systems, including safe operation, troubleshooting methods, and system limitations. Participate actively in daily work planning meetings, toolbox talks (TBT), risk assessments, SIMOPS evaluations, and preparation/review of work control certificates and isolation plans, ensuring full compliance with Control of Work procedures. Apply technical expertise to identify root causes of equipment failures and develop effective, safe, and sustainable repair or improvement solutions across hydraulic, mechanical, and E&I disciplines. Carry out duties as required by the superior in accordance with the Operations Manual and Offshore Emergency Response Plan (ERP).

What we are looking for

Education as Instrument Technician, Hydraulic / Mechanical Technician, or equivalent technical discipline (trade or engineering level). Multidisciplinary training and documented competence in both Instrumentation (E&I) and Hydraulic / Mechanical systems. Documented training and extensive hands-on experience in Small Bore Tubing installation and maintenance. Fluent in English, both written and spoken. Full compliance with the position-specific training matrix. Extensive offshore experience in planning, execution, commissioning, and troubleshooting of hydraulic and electronic control systems. Strong hands-on experience with offshore cranes, winches, hydraulic power units (HPUs), valve actuation systems, motors, and associated control and safety systems. Proven ability to read, interpret, and apply technical drawings, hydraulic schematics, loop diagrams, wiring diagrams, manuals, and procedures. Strong understanding of hydraulic principles, pressure systems, contamination control, and functional safety interfaces. Structured, systematic, and thorough approach to maintenance and troubleshooting. Proactive mindset with strong ownership of safety, quality, and reliability.
