Poste proposé : General Manager - Dakar

We are recruiting, on behalf of our client, a leading regional company operating in the  trading and distribution sector , specializing in lubricants, fertilizers, polymers, plastic products, and general trading activities.

As part of its expansion in West Africa, the company is launching a new branch in Dakar to strengthen its market presence and supply chain operations across Senegal.

Role Summary :

The General Manager will lead the Dakar branch with full responsibility for commercial performance, operational efficiency, and profitability. This role combines strategic development, full P&L ownership, and hands-on leadership to drive growth across multiple product lines.

Key Responsibilities :

P&L Management:  Drive revenue growth and improve margins; manage budgets and forecasts

Market Development:  Identify new markets and customer segments; implement go-to-market strategies

Sales Leadership:  Define targets and lead the sales team to achieve and exceed objectives

Operations & Supply Chain:  Oversee logistics, inventory, and distribution to ensure efficiency and cost control

Stakeholder Management:  Build strong relationships with customers, partners, suppliers, and authorities

Compliance & Risk:  Ensure adherence to local regulations, safety standards, and company policies

Financial Oversight:  Monitor cash flow, receivables, and financial performance

Team Leadership:  Recruit, develop, and retain talent while fostering a high-performance culture

Reporting:  Provide performance insights and strategic recommendations to regional leadership

Key Performance Indicators :

Revenue growth and gross margin performance

Market share expansion

Profitability and cost efficiency

Inventory turnover and service levels

Cash flow and receivables management

Team performance and retention

Qualifications & Experience :

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain, Agriculture, Chemistry, or related field

MBA or advanced degree preferred

Minimum 10 years of relevant experience, including 5 years in a senior management role

Background in distribution, trading, or FMCG sectors required

Experience in lubricants, fertilizers, polymers, or plastics is highly desirable

Proven experience in West Africa or similar emerging markets

Languages :

Fluent French (mandatory)

English is a strong asset

Knowledge of local languages (e.g., Wolof) is a plus

Skills & Competencies :

Strong commercial and negotiation skills

Solid financial and P&L management expertise

Leadership and team development capabilities

Supply chain and logistics knowledge

Strong analytical and decision-making skills

Excellent communication and stakeholder management

High integrity, adaptability, and resilience
