Épidémiologiste, Analyste de Recherche, Malaria | Epidemiologist, Research Analyst, Paludisme, Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso Organization: Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) Country: Burkina Faso City: Ouagadougou Office: CHAI in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso Overview French Version below The Clinton Health Access Initiative, Inc. (CHAI) is a global health organization committed to our mission of saving lives and reducing the burden of disease in low-and middle-income countries. We work at the invitation of governments to support them and the private sector to create and sustain high-quality health systems. CHAI was founded in 2002 in response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic, with the goal of dramatically reducing the price of life-saving drugs and increasing access to these medicines in the countries with the highest burden of the disease. Over the following two decades, CHAI has expanded its focus. Today, along with HIV, we work with our partners to prevent and treat infectious diseases such as COVID-19, malaria, tuberculosis, and hepatitis. Our work has also expanded into cancer, diabetes, hypertension, and other non-communicable diseases, and we work to accelerate the rollout of lifesaving vaccines, reduce maternal and child mortality, combat chronic malnutrition, and increase access to assistive technology. We are investing in horizontal approaches to strengthen health systems through programs in human resources for health, digital health, and health financing. With each new and innovative program, our strategy is grounded in maximizing sustainable impact at scale, ensuring that governments lead the solutions, that programs are designed to scale nationally, and learnings are shared globally. At CHAI, our people are our greatest asset, and none of this work would be possible without their talent, time, dedication, and
passion for our mission and values. We are a highly diverse team of enthusiastic individuals across 40 countries with a broad range of
skill sets and life experiences. CHAI is deeply grounded in the countries we work in, with the majority of our staff based in program countries. Program overview Malaria remains one of the world's leading causes of illness, death, and lost economic productivity. Over the past decade, substantial increases in donor funding had enabled the large-scale rollout of effective prevention, diagnosis, and treatment interventions. This investment successfully reduced the malaria burden across many settings, with several countries having initiated pathways toward elimination. However, in a context now defined by a progressive contraction of resources, these hard-won gains are increasingly at risk. Declining funding threatens the continuity of malaria programs. It is therefore critical to prioritize high-impact interventions, maximize spending efficiency, and accelerate the mobilization of domestic resources — to safeguard progress achieved and sustain momentum toward elimination goals. CHAI has initiated support for Burkina Faso's Ministry of Health (MS) through its National Malaria Control Program (now named Secrétariat Permanent de lutte contre le paludisme/SP-Palu) since 2019. Through a series of technical and operational assessments, CHAI in collaboration with SP-Palu identified potential areas of work and prioritized them based on impact and feasibility, including strengthening data use, enhancing data reporting, disease analysis and surveillance, research, case management and optimization of malaria control resources. To optimize the performance and impact of the CHW network, CHAI also supports the Ministry of Health's community health department. This support involves strengthening governance structures, ensuring the availability of essential commodities, and improving data quality across the network. Position Overview CHAI is seeking a data-focused Malaria Surveillance Analyst to support the Ministry of Health in Burkina Faso. Based in Ouagadougou, the Analyst will work closely with key stakeholders across district, regional, and central levels, and engage with donors and the broader international community in-country. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong analytical capabilities combined with the personal qualities CHAI values most: resourcefulness, tenacity, and independence, balanced with patience and humility, and underpinned by a rigorous work ethic. The Analyst will be an integral part of the malaria team, working in close collaboration with the digital team. He/she will focus on data collection, analysis, and visualization, while also contributing to malaria-related research activities. The successful
candidate will possess strong communication, organizational skills; be imaginative, pragmatic, and innovative in applying epidemiological expertise to improve real-world health programs; work independently to drive implementation; and have deep personal commitment to producing results. The analyst will assist in monitoring planned activities, analysing key performance indicators, and contributing to the
presentation of results. Additionally, the analyst will collaborate with the digital health team supporting the integration of data-driven insights into the technical and operational aspects of the various platforms used by the malaria and community health program. Responsibilities Serve as a trusted partner to the Malaria and CHW departments as required on data analysis. Support the rollout and monitoring the performance of existing and new surveillance processes and platforms for improved data collection, repor
