Role Description The Journaliste indépendant will work full time on-site in Morondava, reporting on local and national news, events, and issues relevant to the public. Day-to-day responsibilities include researching stories, conducting interviews, verifying facts, and writing clear, engaging news articles and press releases. The role involves attending press conferences, community meetings, and public events to gather information and perspectives. The journalist may also participate in broadcasting activities, such as preparing scripts, presenting reports, or collaborating with audio-visual teams. The position requires close collaboration with editors and other team members to ensure content meets editorial standards and reflects the organization’s mission. Qualifications Strong Writing and News Writing skills, with the ability to produce accurate and engaging content under deadlines. Experience preparing Press Releases that clearly communicate key messages to media and the public. Proficient in Research, including fact-checking, source verification, and gathering information from diverse viewpoints. Broadcasting skills, such as preparing scripts, presenting news, or working with radio/TV or digital audio-visual formats. Knowledge of journalistic ethics, media law basics, and standards of impartial and responsible reporting. Excellent communication skills in written and spoken languages relevant to the audience (e. g., Malagasy and French; English is an asset). Ability to work independently in the field, manage multiple assignments, and adapt to fast-changing news situations.
