Role Description The Bar Manager role at THE COCOON COLLECTION is a contract, on-site position based in Zanzibar City Bawe Island. The Bar Manager oversees the daily operations of bar outlets, including staffing, scheduling, inventory control, and ensuring compliance with hygiene and safety standards. This role is responsible for delivering an exceptional guest experience through attentive service, curated beverage menus, and consistent quality of drinks and snacks. The Bar Manager trains, mentors, and supports bar team members, monitors performance, and fosters a positive, service-oriented work environment. Additional responsibilities include coordinating with Food & Beverage and Sales teams on promotions, managing costs and revenue targets, and reporting operational updates to resort leadership. Qualifications – Strong customer service and guest relations skills, with a commitment to personalized, high-standard hospitality. – Proficiency in Food & Beverage operations, including bar management, product knowledge, and compliance with health and safety regulations. – Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and lead a diverse bar staff. – Experience in training, coaching, and developing team members to maintain consistent service quality. – Sales and upselling skills, including the ability to support bar promotions and contribute to revenue growth. – Previous experience as a Bar Manager or senior bar supervisor in upscale or luxury hospitality environments. – Ability to work on-site in Zanzibar Bawe island, with flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. – Basic understanding of inventory management, cost control, and reporting processes. – Fluency in English; additional languages relevant to international guests are an advantage. – Relevant vocational training or certification in hospitality, Food & Beverage, or related fields is preferred.
