International Medical Corps (IMC), a global non-profit humanitarian organization, is looking for a Driver (Local Consultant) to strengthen its logistics team in Cameroon. This position is critical to ensuring business continuity, providing reliable support for staff travel and facilitating field operations.
Main duties
Job Title: Driver (Local Consultant / LN)
Organization: International Medical Corps (IMC)
Location
Workplace Yaoundé, Cameroon (with field trips)
Deadline for applications: 10 December 2026
Job overview
IMC’s country office in Cameroon currently has a single driver, which makes it difficult to guarantee adequate transport coverage and a fallback solution in the event of unavailability. The recruitment of an additional driver is therefore necessary to ensure operational continuity and punctual support for staff movements and field activities.
Missions and Responsibilities (Scope of Work)
The main tasks of the incumbent will be to:
scrupulously adhere to the local highway code and BMI speed limits, applying the most restrictive rule of both.
Perform a daily inspection of the assigned vehicle before departure to ensure it is in good working order.
Other information
Check that the vehicle is equipped with all required items, including a first aid kit, emergency supplies, spare parts and any other mandatory equipment.
Ensure that all assigned communication equipment is operational at all times.
Apply all safety and security measures required by International Medical Corps.
Ensure that all passengers comply with safety measures during the journey.
Ensure that all goods transported are securely stowed and accompanied by a waybill.
Keep the vehicle logbook up to date by recording all journeys, obtaining signatures from affected passengers and documenting all refuelling activities.
Keep the vehicle clean and properly fueled at all times.
Coordinate all movements with the appropriate line manager.
Immediately report to management any mechanical problems or accidents involving the vehicle.
Perform basic maintenance of the vehicle when required and inform the person responsible as soon as any revisions, repairs or additional maintenance are necessary.
Immediately report any safety issues affecting BMI personnel or vehicles.
Familiarize yourself with the local area and planned itinerary prior to departure, especially regarding security issues. In case of ignorance of the route, ask for a briefing at the security focal point, the logistic referent or another driver who has already taken this route.
Ensure that the vehicle is always parked defensively, reversing in the parking space, to allow a quick departure if necessary.
