Responsable Juridique (H/F)

RMO, a player in temporary work and temporary employment based in Africa, recruits for one of its clients, a company specializing in Human Resources, a Legal Manager. The position is based at Abidjan and is practiced on a permanent basis, full-time, without teleworking. It is aimed at a profile justifying more than five years of experience.

RMO supports companies in all sectors of activity: agro-industry, agri-food, telecoms, banking, insurance, petroleum, mining, industry, transit, service, NGOs, marine maintenance, transport and logistics. Its local teams control the employment pool and the economic market of their perimeter. The team dedicated to the recruitment of middle management profiles and expert professions puts its expertise at the service of the professional development of candidates.

Duties

In close collaboration with the Management, the Legal Officer is primarily responsible for advising, proposing and participating in the validation of strategic legal recommendations for the company, in order to comply with current legislation or anticipate regulatory changes. It also controls the registration of legal documents, such as minutes of meetings and the production of mandatory documents from listed companies.

To this end, it shall:

Advise operational staff, organize information and legal advice within the company, and provide support to operational staff in various forms: responses to tenders, drafting of framework agreements or negotiated procedures, commercial contracts, management of insurance and banking conditions in their legal aspects, general terms and conditions of sale, partnership contracts, subcontracting, etc.

Analyze and propose legal arrangements, including monitoring, creation, transformation of companies or subsidiaries, asset sales, commercial leases. It analyzes the legal risks of operations and makes all employees aware of these risks. He participates in the negotiation of contracts with clients and service providers, drafts, validates and follows up contracts by ensuring legal compliance, and organizes a base of model contracts (commercial, work, etc.).

Management of pre-litigation and litigation

The Legal Officer participates in the definition of procedures for managing pre-litigation and litigation in conjunction with the operational staff concerned and, where appropriate, with the help of external advice: debt collection, litigation, commercial litigation. It monitors disputes, evaluates their nature, ensures follow-up and limits litigation.

Preparation of legal documents and external representation

He represents the company and manages relations with the various actors: lawyers' councils, commissioners of justice, police authorities, regulatory bodies. He participates in the management and the examination of files with these different actors and ensures the follow-up.

Setting up a legal watch

It organizes a permanent legal watch on the activities of the company or customers, following both the evolution of national and international regulations as well as jurisprudence, so as to also inform the general management and/or operational directorates on the practices of other companies in the sector. It proposes and participates in the selection of external expert firms to provide advice on specific topics, and validates the choice of legal databases corresponding to the specific activities of the company.

Other missions

It organizes the collection of legal advice needs of all operational directorates: documentary sources, competitive intelligence, internal achievements. He supervises, evaluates and trains the employees of the team under his responsibility.

Profile of the candidate

The holder of the position must have obtained a higher education at Master 1/2 or Master’s level in private law or equivalent, and justify seven (07) years of professional experience as a Legal Officer. He must have an excellent knowledge of commercial law, employment law, contract and company law, as well as legal proceedings and monitoring. Proficiency in the English language and office tools is highly desired.

This position requires an ability to advise the company on legal issues, to make representations to public or private bodies, to provide advice on dispute resolution procedures, to carry out a documentary watch (collection, analysis, etc.) and to constitute pleading files. It is recommended to be rigorous, objective, and to have a good capacity for analysis and synthesis, as well as strong editorial and managerial skills. The incumbent of the position must also demonstrate a good sense of communication and argumentation, be proactive, responsive, available, and have convictions.

Expert Application Advice

  • •Never pay any amount of money — for a file, a training, a uniform, or an interview. A real employer never asks the candidate to pay.
  • •Never send a photo of your ID card, passport, or banking details before you have physically verified the employer exists.
  • •Always meet in a public place, during the day — never an isolated address, a private home, or a location you cannot verify in advance.
  • •Tell a relative or friend exactly where you are going, with whom, and at what time — and share your live location if possible.
  • •Search the company name online before going: a real business has a trace (website, reviews, other employees, an official address).
  • •A salary that is far above the market rate for the position and the city is a red flag — be extra cautious.
