APT works for societies without torture and ill-treatment, advocating at the international, regional and national levels with an approach based on cooperation, dialogue and partnerships. Our multicultural team of 16 staff comprises members working in Geneva and in different locations around the world. Our vision: Societies without torture or ill-treatment. We implement this vision by:

• Influencing national, regional and international legal frameworks, standards, policies and practices to reduce the risks of torture and ill-treatment

MAIN ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Fundraising Manager will lead the development and implementation of APT's fundraising strategy and steward relationships with existing and prospective donors.

This is a hands-on fundraising role in a small association. In close collaboration with other members of the APT team, the Fundraising Manager will take responsibility for the full fundraising cycle, from identifying opportunities and developing approaches to drafting applications and reports, coordinating internal inputs, maintaining donor information and ensuring administrative follow-up. The role therefore requires both strategic judgement and a willingness to take ownership of the detailed, practical aspects of fundraising. Reporting to the Secretary General, they will work closely with APT Senior Advisers, the Head of Operations, the Finance Manager and the Communications Manager to secure resources that enable the association to deliver its mission and strategic objectives. The Fundraising Manager will oversee a portfolio of institutional donors and foundations that currently support an annual organisational budget of approximately CHF 2,5 million. • Develop, implement and regularly review APT's fundraising strategy
• Maintain and strengthen relationships with existing institutional donors and other funding partners, supporting APT management with high-quality stewardship of donor relations

• Identify and pursue new funding opportunities, contributing to the diversification of APT's funding base
• Develop strategic engagement plans and tailored communications for existing and prospective donors
• Provide regular analysis and updates on APT's funding situation to support decision-making by senior management and governance bodies (Bureau, Board, General Assembly). Grant management and donor accountability
• Lead the preparation and submission of donor applications, in close cooperation with all relevant colleagues
• Coordinate donor reporting processes and ensure timely, accurate and high-quality reporting

Work closely with operations and finance colleagues to ensure compliance with donor contracts and other requirements

• Develop and maintain a donor and grant database, including donor requirements
• Keep track of fundraising and grant deadlines, requirements and follow-up actions, ensuring that these are completed in a timely manner

Organisational support and representation

• Contribute to the development of communication materials that support fundraising efforts
• Support the implementation of APT's monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning processes to strengthen evidence-based reporting to donors in accordance with APT’s measurement framework
• Develop and maintain a network of fundraising and philanthropy professionals
• Represent the APT in relevant meetings, conferences and events
• Supervise interns and external consultants supporting fundraising activities, as applicable Requirements Education
• University degree or equivalent higher education qualification in fundraising, marketing, philanthropy, or related field e.g. international relations, project management, etc.

Expérience

• A minimum of eight years of relevant professional experience in fundraising, donor relations, grant management or organisational development within the non-profit, international development or human rights sectors
• Demonstrated experience securing and managing funding from a variety of donors (public and private institutional donors, as well as individuals)
• Experience coordinating complex funding proposals and donor reports
• Experience working in an international and multicultural environment Also an asset:
• A network within the donors and philanthropic communities in Switzerland
• Experience working autonomously in a small NGO, where responsibilities span both strategic and hands-on fundraising Knowledge and skills
• Strong commitment to human rights values, as well as to dialogue and partnerships

• Excellent writing, communication and relationship-building skills
• Strong strategic thinking, planning and organisational skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines

• Excellent analytical skills and confidence working with budgets and financial information
• Strong attention to detail
• Full professional proficiency (written and spoken) in English and French. Additional languages are an asset
• Availability to travel occasionally (mainly within Switzerland) Benefits Salary: monthly CHF 7’500 to 8’000.- gross at 100% commensurate with qualifications and experience. Benefits: Standard pension plan; 25 days of holidays per annum (at 100%) plus national holidays and additional days at the end of the year; compensation days related to mission travel; learning and development opportunities; option to work from home up to 2 days per week; free car parking space.
