Salary of €1200 net/month, paid in 14 instalments in line with Greek practice. Starting date: As soon as possible Organisational Context The Human Rights Legal Project (HRLP) works to defend the dignity and fundamental rights of displaced people within the European Union, and at its borders, by providing legal assistance to individuals and affected communities, and by pursuing strategic action to hold responsible authorities and institutions to account.

HRLP was founded as a joint initiative of individual humanitarian workers in 2020, the primary intention being to focus on litigation and representation in cases of alleged human rights violations on behalf of asylum-seekers and refugees within the Greek asylum process, and the defence of people criminalised whilst migrating. Such cases may include, but are not limited to, denial of access to essential health care services, unlawful incarceration or with inadequate facilities, non-access to fair trial and police (or any public authority) brutality and misconduct, and cases of sexual abuse and violence. As the organisation continues to grow, we are seeking to recruit a Project Manager to oversee and manage the field operations.

Expérience

The candidate for this role must be willing to relocate to Samos. They must have prior experience in project and financial management and be passionate about human rights and justice. Responsibilities The candidate will work within the office based in Vathy Town, Samos. The Project Manager will work under the supervision of HRLP’s Board, who are working remotely. Primary tasks will include, but are not limited to: Finance and Fundraising Monitoring the project budget, including cash flow management, monthly accounting, and financial forecasting; Preparing and submitting payment requests and funding proposals to the Treasurer for approval and processing; Ensuring transparent and accountable reporting on the use of funds; Overseeing and coordinating the fundraising efforts of HRLP, including administration of the grant portfolio (applications, reconciliation, monitoring, reporting, closure, and donor stewardship);

Maintaining good relations with existing donors and informing them regularly on project progress; Attendance and representation at donor meetings and other relevant fora. Human Resources and Team Management Managing and supervising HRLP staff and consultants, excluding the legal team; Supporting recruitment processes where required, including selection and interviewing of candidates, in collaboration with the Board and the Head of Legal; Ensuring a safe and thriving workplace, including progressively developing the policy framework to achieve this; Conducting continuous risk assessments concerning the operations of HRLP and potential repercussions on the organisation and its staff. Administration and Logistics Managing office premises, including contracts, supplier relationships, and equipment; Overseeing travel logistics for staff, including bookings and expense management; Responsibility for the day-to-day management of administrative tasks, ensuring smooth operational functioning of the organisation;

Maintaining organisational records and filing systems in line with GDPR requirements. Organisational Development In cooperation with the Board and Head of Legal, initiating and supervising the organisational development of HRLP, including policy, structural, and strategic developments; Overseeing and ensuring the strategic alignment of the work of the communications department; Developing and implementing a staff training and professional development framework, ensuring the team has access to relevant learning opportunities; Ensuring robust safeguarding policies and procedures are in place, regularly reviewed, and embedded across the organisation; Promoting a culture of continuous learning, well being, and professional growth within the team. Essential Qualifications and Experience The right to live and work, without restriction, in Greece.

Fluent English language skills; Experience in project management and strategic planning; including budget management and financial oversight; Experience in HR management, including recruitment, staff supervision, and workplace policy development; Experience in fundraising and grant management, including donor reporting and stewardship; Prior experience working within human rights, the migration sector or an NGO/non-profit, ideally within a Greek context; Awareness of ethical guidelines for the humanitarian field, including GDPR and safeguarding best practices; Dedication to the pursuit of justice and due process in the field of migration; Strong leadership, team management, and conflict resolution skills with the ability to foster a collaborative and positive work environment; Ability and willingness to work in a dynamic and highly challenging environment, which may necessitate out-of-work hours; Exceptional administrative and organisational skills with a focus on accuracy and thoroughness; Strong attention to detail and ability to identify errors, inconsistencies, and process improvements. Desirable Qualifications and Experience Relevant academic qualification in project management, business administration or a related field; Proficiency in other languages. Greek language skills will be considered a distinct advantage. Long term commitment to the organisation’s mission. Compensation and Benefits €1200 net per month, payable in 14 instalments in line with Greek law.
