Education / Qualifications

The objective of the position is to support the Health Communication and Promotion functions of the WHO Office in République Central African Republic, in a timely manner, in the production and dissemination of high-quality public information on old and emerging public health issues, through various platforms (print, web, broadcast, social media, etc.); contribute to the management of WHO’s reputation and visibility by monitoring public opinion and concerns and providing a strategic response. Background The République Central African Republic faces major health challenges exacerbated by recurrent humanitarian crises, political instability and structural weaknesses in the health system. The World Health Organization (WHO) continues to engage with the Government and partners to strengthen the resilience of the health system and improve access to care for the most vulnerable populations. Despite significant progress, challenges remain, including the persistence of infectious diseases (measles, yellow fever, mpox, pertussis, dracunculosis, dengue fever, vaccine-derived poliomyelitis, meningitis, malaria, tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS), the increase in chronic diseases such as hypertension, diabetes and cardiovascular disease, often exacerbated by poor nutrition, stress and lack of access to preventive care. Low vaccination rates and the need to strengthen people’s confidence in the health system. Mental health is also a concern, due to the trauma of conflict and displacement. Disinformation and mistrust of public health actors also complicate efforts to prevent and respond to health emergencies. In this context where access to information is limited, effective communication is essential to improve access to care by disseminating clear messages about available services. It strengthens trust between the population and health actors, promotes the prevention and management of health crises, and contributes to the protection of vulnerable groups by promoting appropriate behaviours. The incumbent will help to increase the visibility of health campaigns, raise awareness among young people through creative formats and ensure a coherent WHO presence on the web and social networks.

  • •Never pay any amount of money — for a file, a training, a uniform, or an interview. A real employer never asks the candidate to pay.
  • •Never send a photo of your ID card, passport, or banking details before you have physically verified the employer exists.
  • •Always meet in a public place, during the day — never an isolated address, a private home, or a location you cannot verify in advance.
  • •Tell a relative or friend exactly where you are going, with whom, and at what time — and share your live location if possible.
  • •Search the company name online before going: a real business has a trace (website, reviews, other employees, an official address).
  • •A salary that is far above the market rate for the position and the city is a red flag — be extra cautious.
