This is a full-time executive position, offering a competitive salary range of NGN 900,000 to 1,200,000 plus commission.
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing business development and marketing, as well as consumer, retail, and personal banking operations. Key responsibilities include leading the expansion of these banking lines by leveraging an existing client portfolio to significantly grow deposit liabilities, quality risk assets, and overall profitability. The General Manager will prepare and interpret management accounts, annual budgets, financial statements, and variance reports. Additionally, the role entails ensuring full operational and financial compliance by managing the preparation, interpretation, and timely submission of monthly, quarterly, and bi-annual regulatory returns to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC).
The ideal candidate must possess a minimum of a degree in finance, banking, management, or a related field. An additional postgraduate or professional qualification will be an advantage. A minimum of 10 years of banking experience is required, with at least some of that at a management level. The candidate must have a very good understanding of the Uyo business environment and bring along an existing client portfolio.
Essential skills include excellent interpersonal skills, strong computer proficiency (fluent in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), and the ability to analyze fees, interest income, investment income, commissions, and expenses on a monthly basis. The candidate should be conversant with preparing and interpreting management accounts, annual accounts, and other performance monitoring tools, as well as analyzing financial statements and variances. Familiarity with regulatory reporting to CBN and NDIC, budget planning and control, and banking operations is also required. Strong credit appraisal skills and an understanding of enterprise risk management are essential.
This role demands an executive-level professional who can direct daily retail banking operations, set performance benchmarks, monitor budget control, and lead business development teams toward meeting strategic growth targets. The working hours are from 8 am to 5 pm, and English is the required language.
