Goprel Engineering Services Ltd, a construction company based in Lagos, Nigeria, is seeking a skilled and safety-minded Industrial Refrigeration Technician to join its maintenance team. This full-time role involves the daily operation, preventative maintenance, and emergency repair of large-scale industrial cooling systems, with a focus on high-capacity equipment such as anhydrous ammonia systems, industrial chillers, and automated process controls.
The ideal candidate will prioritize workplace safety, possess strong troubleshooting skills, and thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Responsibilities include performing routine inspections and preventative maintenance on industrial compressors, cooling towers, evaporators, and condensers; safely monitoring, testing, and repairing high-hazard anhydrous ammonia refrigeration systems in strict compliance with safety protocols; diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults quickly to minimize plant downtime; repairing or replacing pumps, valves, and motors; maintaining accurate daily logs of system operations, refrigerant tracking, safety checks, and regulatory compliance paperwork; and participating in the on-call rotation to handle urgent system failures or hazardous leak responses.
Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent, with completion of an accredited HVAC-R trade school program or registered apprenticeship preferred. A minimum of 3–5 years of hands-on experience working with industrial refrigeration or heavy commercial systems is required, along with proficiency in reading complex electrical schematics, industrial piping diagrams, and mechanical blueprints. The role also requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, work at heights, and perform duties in both extremely cold (freezers) and hot environments.
The position is located in Ogba, Lagos, with a monthly remuneration of NGN 180,000 - 200,000 depending on experience. Working hours are full-time, from 8 to 5. English is the language requirement.
