Makini Schools, a leader in the Kenyan education system drawing on global best practices, operates five campuses in Nairobi and Kisumu, offering nursery, primary, and high school education. We are currently recruiting for the position of Business Partner - People and Culture.
This is a full-time role requiring a Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, Industrial Psychology, Organizational Development, or a related field. A postgraduate qualification in Human Resources, Labour Relations, Business Administration, or Organizational Development will be an advantage. A Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP-K) qualification or equivalent professional certification is preferred.
Key responsibilities include strategic business partnering, talent acquisition and workforce planning, employee relations, performance success and learning development, employee engagement and culture, HR operations and compliance, and HR projects and continuous improvement.
In strategic business partnering, you will partner with school leadership teams to align people strategies with business and educational objectives, provide proactive advice on organizational design, workforce planning, talent management, and employee relations, support leaders in managing change and building high-performing cultures, and analyze people data to identify risks and opportunities.
For talent acquisition, you will support recruitment activities across academic and support functions, partner with hiring managers to develop recruitment plans, ensure fair and inclusive practices, and coordinate onboarding processes.
In employee relations, you will implement strategies to reduce misconduct, provide expert guidance on disciplinary processes and grievances, and ensure compliance with Kenyan labour law.
You will run the Strategic Workforce Planning process, support performance management, coach managers, identify capability gaps, and support learning initiatives.
You will also support employee engagement initiatives, drive wellness and retention programmes, and champion Makini Schools' values.
For HR operations, you will ensure compliance with legislation, support policy development, maintain accurate records, partner with payroll and finance, and present monthly HR metrics to the Regional People and Culture Business.
Finally, you will participate in P&C projects, contribute to HR systems implementation, and support merger and acquisition due diligence.
