Zambart, an independent Zambian research organization headquartered at Ridgeway Campus in Lusaka, is recruiting a Study Manager for the InDiE Study. Zambart is globally renowned for its interdisciplinary research on HIV and Tuberculosis and has contributed to national and global policy and practice. Its portfolio now includes broader public health issues. As part of the Infectious Disease Equity for Africa (InDiE) Consortium, Zambart aims to develop and evaluate approaches to breaking the inverse laws, maximizing and accelerating the role of new prevention interventions in generating equitable health outcomes for infectious diseases in sub-Saharan Africa. Building on the GLOBE-HPV Study, the InDiE Study explores whether and how inverse laws apply to the cascade of cervical cancer elimination across age groups, from HPV vaccination to screening and treatment. The study includes secondary data analysis of existing data (GLOBE HPV, DHS) and mixed-methods research with health facilities nationwide.
Position: Study Manager Reporting To: Principal Investigator Job Location: Zambart House, Lusaka Duration: 2 years
Job Summary: The study manager will work closely with the principal investigator and oversee the day-to-day running of the study. Responsibilities include managing implementation, coordinating qualitative and quantitative research across the Zambia case study, liaising with other work packages, and supporting the Zambian PI in wider consortium tasks. This role suits an early to mid-career researcher committed to epidemiological and implementation research on cervical cancer elimination.
Roles and Responsibilities: Coordinate and oversee implementation of the InDiE study in Zambia; line manage the project team, monitoring progress and performance; manage timelines, budgets, and expenses; identify changes and implement solutions; work with the Ministry of Health at district, provincial, and national levels; maintain strong relationships with stakeholders and Zambart administration; manage ethics and IRB submissions; ensure quality assurance for data collection, including questionnaire design and data quality control; liaise with administrators and field leaders for supplies and purchases; support risk identification and mitigation; assist with funder reporting; design questionnaires for health facility surveys; coordinate qualitative activities and surveys; support processing and analysis of epidemiological data, including routine service delivery data.
Qualifications and Experience: A relevant master’s degree in epidemiology, implementation science, public health, or related field from a reputable university; minimum 2 years’ demonstrable mixed methods research experience in cervical cancer, HPV, or other STI-related research; demonstrable project management and coordination with Ministry of Health partners; excellent writing skills with key involvement in academic and pragmatic outputs; team player; computer literate with experience in quantitative and qualitative statistical data management software; fluent in English and some Zambian languages; excellent research skills and ambition; integrity and flexibility.
