We are seeking a qualified Plant Electrical Engineer to temporarily join our operations team. The successful candidate will assume responsibility for maintaining and enhancing electrical systems within the facility. Key duties include diagnosing equipment malfunctions, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring compliance with safety protocols. Additionally, the role requires adherence to industry standards and the implementation of energy-efficient solutions. Prior experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting, along with proficiency in PLC programming and electrical troubleshooting, is essential. Strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to operational excellence are required. Haggai Mining (U) Ltd (WGG) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to join their team in Uganda’s dynamic mining sector. The ideal candidate will possess a strong academic background in geology, engineering, or a related field, complemented by relevant industry experience. Key responsibilities include overseeing exploration projects, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations, and managing operational efficiency. Proficiency in project management, risk assessment, and stakeholder engagement is essential, along with excellent communication and leadership skills. The role demands adaptability to challenging environments and a commitment to sustainable mining practices. Fluency in English and familiarity with local mining laws will be advantageous. Busia Busia Responsible for extracting valuable minerals and resources from the earth through various mining techniques, including surface and underground methods. Collaborates with geologists and engineers to identify optimal extraction sites based on geological surveys and feasibility studies. Operates heavy machinery such as excavators, loaders, and drills, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and environmental regulations. Monitors production levels, equipment performance, and maintenance schedules to optimize efficiency and minimize downtime. Identifies and resolves operational challenges, such as equipment malfunctions or geological obstacles, to maintain continuous workflow. Maintains accurate records of extraction activities, material quantities, and compliance documentation. Ensures adherence to federal, state, and local mining laws, as well as company policies and industry standards. Science, Engineering, Installation, Maintenance, and Repair professionals in the Energy and Mining sectors are responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing critical infrastructure and systems that ensure operational efficiency, safety, and sustainability. These roles require a strong foundation in technical principles, problem-solving skills, and hands-on expertise to maintain and optimize equipment, facilities, and processes. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in relevant technologies, adherence to industry regulations, and a commitment to safety protocols. Responsibilities include troubleshooting malfunctions, performing routine inspections, conducting preventive maintenance, and ensuring compliance with environmental and operational standards. Additionally, professionals in this field contribute to innovation by integrating emerging technologies and best practices to enhance productivity and reduce downtime. Background Haggai Mining (U) Ltd (“EGG”), Uganda’s pioneering fully automated large-scale gold mining operation situated in USIA, comprises a 5,000-tonne-per-day concentrator, a 350-tonne-per-day kyanization facility, a fully automated underground mine, and a gold smelting and refining workshop. In response to evolving production demands, WGG is now seeking applications from highly qualified individuals for the following essential technical roles: Job Summary Oversee the operation and maintenance of electrical and automation control systems within the paste backfill plant. Oversee and execute a comprehensive range of critical responsibilities essential to the role’s success, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives. Deliver consistent performance in managing key tasks while maintaining precision and attention to detail across all assigned duties. Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to streamline processes and enhance operational efficiency. Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address challenges and drive continuous improvement. Uphold compliance with established policies, standards, and regulatory requirements to mitigate risks and maintain accountability. Foster a culture of accountability and professionalism through clear communication and adherence to best practices. Responsible for programming and maintaining PLCs, including Siemens and Mitsubishi models, as well as VFDs and SCADA/HMI systems, this role involves designing and troubleshooting automation control circuits while ensuring the upkeep of low-voltage distribution systems and explosion-proof electrical equipment. Duties include interpreting electrical drawings, executing electrical upgrades, and enforcing safety measures, alongside providing training to local employees. Requirements A bachelor’s degree or higher in electrical, automation, or electromechanical engineering is required, along with a minimum of three years of hands-on experience in electrical or automation roles within a backfill plant or industrial automation setting. Proficiency in PLC programming, VFD configuration, and HMI development is essential, and a strong working knowledge of underground explosion-proof electrical standards is preferred.
