Job Description VACANCY ADVERTISEMENT: SENIOR SAFETY OFFICER Lumwana Mining Company is seeking to recruit a highly committed employee for the position of a Senior Safety Officer to join the versatile Occupational Health and Safety department Team. We are in search of an individual who can champion Barrick’s DNA by: Communicating Honestly, Transparently, and Acting with Integrity Exhibiting a Results-Driven approach Delivering solutions that are Fit for Purpose Dedicating themselves to Building a Sustainable Legacy Taking Responsibility and being Accountable Committing to Zero Harm Cultivating strong and meaningful Partnerships Reporting to the OH&S Coordinator, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety section maintains an effective and visible presence in the workplace with regards to health and safety management. Your duties will include but not limited to the following: Assist with the coordination and implementation of LMC’s HSE management system to a standard that is compatible with international practice and undertaken in a timely and cost-effective way. Provision of advice, support, and coaching to contractors and employees alike about management of health and safety risks. Conduct workplace safety audits and inspections across the site. Administer safety-related documentation and records. Monitor and report on site incident trends, audit reports, and corrective action undertaken. Facilitate and participate in incident investigations, risk assessments, and any other safety forums. Oversee health and safety-related training and presentations in your area of operation. Proactively identify issues as they arise and identify solutions. Accountable for the completion of all tasks identified in the Management Operating System (MOS) to the specified quality and timelines assigned to this role Develop, implement, and maintain safe work procedures and promote high safety and health awareness. Promote and comply with the LMC Occupational Health & Safety Policy. Ensure appropriate facilities, procedures, and workforce competence to achieve legal compliance, incident prevention, and the achievement of tasks in an environmentally sustainable manner. Develop continuous improvement targets for the function and drive and measure the achievement of these targets. To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements: Full Grade 12 School Certificate. Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) NEBOSH Certificate will be added advantage A minimum of 3 years’ post-qualification experience with at least 1 year in mining or industrial environment. Member of Zambia Occupational Health and Safety Association (ZOHSA) Must have good communication skills in English language. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
