Expérience

The NCD and RMN ACH Research Manager will be based in Rwinkwavu with frequent travel to Irene District, reporting to the Director of the NCD Program. This role will oversee research initiatives within non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and reproductive, maternal, neonatal, adolescent, and child health (RMN ACH), ensuring scientific excellence, rigorous implementation, and seamless collaboration with clinical and program teams. The position requires deep expertise in both qualitative and quantitative research, strong leadership in project management, and a proven track record in mentoring researchers and clinical staff. Additionally, the role will drive quality improvement efforts across both program areas while maintaining ethical compliance, data security, and adherence to study protocols. Key responsibilities include designing and executing research protocols, supervising data collection and analysis, and leading the dissemination of findings through reports, manuscripts, and presentations. The manager will also provide strategic guidance on budget management, capacity-building initiatives, and the translation of research into programmatic improvements. Ideal candidates will hold an advanced degree in public health, medicine, global health, social sciences, or a related field, with at least five years of research experience—preferably in global health settings. Proficiency in statistical and qualitative analysis software, survey administration, and research leadership is essential, along with fluency in English and Kinyarwanda. The role demands adaptability to rural environments, strong cross-disciplinary collaboration, and alignment with PIN/IMB’s core values, including integrity, mutual respect, and solidarity.

Expert Application Advice

Positioning — Your cover letter must answer one question: why YOU for THIS specific role right NOW? Avoid generic templates — one sentence on what you specifically bring beats three generic paragraphs.

Credentials and impact — Your current professional registrations, team sizes supervised and care quality indicators are your decisive arguments.

  • •Never pay any amount of money — for a file, a training, a uniform, or an interview. A real employer never asks the candidate to pay.
  • •Never send a photo of your ID card, passport, or banking details before you have physically verified the employer exists.
  • •Always meet in a public place, during the day — never an isolated address, a private home, or a location you cannot verify in advance.
  • •Tell a relative or friend exactly where you are going, with whom, and at what time — and share your live location if possible.
  • •Search the company name online before going: a real business has a trace (website, reviews, other employees, an official address).
  • •A salary that is far above the market rate for the position and the city is a red flag — be extra cautious.
