The NCD and RMN ACH Research Manager is a Grade 4A position based in Rwinkwavu (with regular travel to Irene District), reporting to the Director of the NCD Program. This role supervises data collectors, junior NCD researchers, and RMN ACH researchers, contributing to Partners In Health (PIN), a Boston-based non-profit dedicated to delivering high-quality healthcare to underserved populations globally. PIN operates in Haiti, Peru, Guatemala, Mexico, Russia, Rwanda, Lesotho, Malawi, Burundi, Kazakhstan, the Dominican Republic, and Boston, with a strong presence in Rwanda through its partnership with the Government of Rwanda via Input Mu Burma (IMB). In Rwanda, PIN/IMB strengthens public health systems in rural areas, with Rwinkwavu serving as a key hub for non-communicable disease (NCD) and surgical services, while Irene District focuses on reproductive, maternal, neonatal, adolescent, and child health (RMN ACH). The Research Manager will be primarily based in Rwinkwavu but will work across both sites, leading and overseeing research activities within the NCD and RMN ACH portfolios—with an emphasis on NCDs. This role demands advanced expertise in qualitative and quantitative research, scientific rigor, and the ability to manage projects from conception to dissemination, while ensuring seamless integration with clinical and programmatic teams. Responsibilities include mentoring junior researchers and clinical staff, implementing quality improvement (QI) initiatives, and fostering a culture of evidence-based practice across programs. Key responsibilities encompass research leadership, methodological oversight, writing and dissemination, mentorship, capacity building, and quality improvement. The ideal candidate will hold an advanced degree in Public Health, Nursing, Medicine, Global Health, Social Science, or a related field, possess at least five years of research experience (preferably in global health), and demonstrate proficiency in research design, data analysis (STATE, R, SPSS, MAZDA, Vivo, Redcap), and scientific writing. Additional requirements include experience in survey administration, qualitative data collection (interviews, focus groups, observations), fluency in English and Linear

Expert Application Advice

When tailoring your CV for Partners In Health, ensure your leadership experience directly addresses SPSS. Use specific, verifiable results—like project outcomes or team impact—to demonstrate you’ve done it before, not just claimed it.

Positioning — Your cover letter must answer one question: why YOU for THIS specific role right NOW? Avoid generic templates — one sentence on what you specifically bring beats three generic paragraphs.

Measurable achievements — At this level, back every skill with a precise example and a quantified result. Prepare 2-3 strategic questions about this organization's current challenges — candidates who anticipate difficulties are consistently rated higher.

  • Never pay any amount of money — for a file, a training, a uniform, or an interview. A real employer never asks the candidate to pay.
  • Never send a photo of your ID card, passport, or banking details before you have physically verified the employer exists.
  • Always meet in a public place, during the day — never an isolated address, a private home, or a location you cannot verify in advance.
  • Tell a relative or friend exactly where you are going, with whom, and at what time — and share your live location if possible.
  • Search the company name online before going: a real business has a trace (website, reviews, other employees, an official address).
  • A salary that is far above the market rate for the position and the city is a red flag — be extra cautious.
