Job Description
The Junior Programme Associate is a mid-level role on our team. This role spends 40% of their time leading the delivery of ongoing and new research projects or projects testing technological, business, or social innovation. They then spend 30% on people management contributing to a positively energetic team dynamic and shaping the growth of team members, and the rest of their time supporting both reactive and business development efforts to grow our portfolio across sub-Saharan Africa.
Responsibilities
Some specific responsibilities will include:
Drive priority technology products by developing and executing product roadmaps, defining objectives and success metrics, researching opportunities, and translating programme needs into clear product requirements.
Manage product lifecycles by prioritising features, defining requirements, coordinating product development activities, and tracking milestones to ensure timely delivery.
Gather and apply user feedback through research, testing, and adoption monitoring to improve products and develop relevant user documentation and training materials.
Monitor and analyse product performance and user engagement data, develop performance reports and dashboards, and recommend improvements based on insights.
Lead project planning beyond the core product management focus and lead projects to successful completion and reporting, on-time and on-budget, from start to finish with limited senior management guidance.
Serve as a trusted liaison to our clients, consortium partners, and diverse stakeholders and collaborators.
Support the hiring and managing of both internal and external human resources in the design, development, and delivery of projects and programmes.
Proactively mentor and coach team members, sharing subject matter expertise and fostering the professional growth of colleagues.
Contribute to the identification and pursuit of new business opportunities through proactive stakeholder engagements, ideation and design of new innovations, or proposal development;
Provide operational leadership in the organisation to strengthen compliance with standard operating procedures, internal processes, and best-practices across our work and in all strategic engagements.
Requirements
The ideal Junior Programme Associate for this role will have an advanced degree in Business Administration, Technology Management, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), or related subjects or specialised degrees in Innovation or Engineering Management.
The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years’ relevant post-national service experience in Information and Communications Technology for Development (ICT4D) in low- and middle-income Country settings, including product management, project management, and partnership management experiences.
The ideal candidate will have relevant experience leading or supervising developers working in an agile setting.
Experience working with government officials is desirable.
The ideal candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with fluency in English. Knowledge of French and Portuguese is an added advantage.
The ideal candidate will possess good interpersonal skills, strong organisational skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications.
The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team, will be comfortable showing flexibility and adaptability to handle diverse tasks and changing priorities, show attention to detail, and demonstrate resourcefulness.
