Contour Global, a KKR-backed Independent Power Producer (IPP), operates across the United States, Latin America, Europe, and Africa, managing a diversified portfolio of nearly 6 GW in renewable generation, flexible thermal power, and battery energy storage systems. The company is advancing its transition to a predominantly renewable platform through the decarbonization of its thermal assets and the expansion of large-scale renewable and battery storage projects. With in-house expertise in development, engineering, and operations, Contour Global currently has over 2 GW of renewable and BESS projects under construction and approximately 15 GW in development. The company collaborates with utilities, industrial clients, and digital infrastructure providers to deliver customized power solutions via long-term contracts, corporate PPAs, and powered-land agreements, accelerating time-to-market for data center developments. The Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Officer plays a critical role in implementing, monitoring, and promoting the company’s HSEQ management system to maintain a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible workplace. The position ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal policies while fostering a proactive safety culture across power plant operations. Responsibilities are allocated as follows: 70% dedicated to health and safety, 15% to environmental management, and 15% to quality management. Key duties include ensuring adherence to HSEQ standards through ongoing awareness initiatives such as safety inductions, supervision, and toolbox talks for employees, visitors, and contractors. The role involves developing and executing monthly HSEQ training and awareness programs for all personnel, contractors, and stakeholders. Additionally, the HSE Officer must guarantee that all workplace activities comply with HSEQ protocols, implement an internal audits and inspections program, and submit accurate HSEQ data to Contour Global’s online database (Velocity EHS) as well as to relevant governmental and stakeholder entities. The position requires compiling and analyzing HSEQ statistics, coordinating zero-injury initiatives by identifying hazards, reporting incidents, and tracking trends. The Officer will advocate for continuous improvement through tools like the 5 Why’s and lessons-learned processes, conduct regular risk assessments for operations and projects, and submit findings in detailed reports. Emergency preparedness is also a priority, involving the scheduling and execution of drills, inspection of safety equipment, and ensuring all HSEQ communications and alerts are translated into the local language for effective dissemination.
