Old Mutual is committed to driving Africa’s narrative forward, and we actively foster a diverse workforce to reflect this vision. In this role, the Assistant Reporting Accountant will ensure the precise and timely preparation of management accounts while assisting with statutory accounts, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow analyses, guaranteeing that the data accurately reflects the business’s financial performance and position. The position involves reconciling policy administration systems with Dynamics 365 (EO 2, AIMS vs. D 365) to validate data alignment and promptly flag any discrepancies to the ICT team for resolution. Additionally, the role supports the accurate and timely preparation of financial statements, including profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow analyses, and conducts balance sheet substantiation (BSS) while overseeing the Finance department’s compliance with BSS procedures. The incumbent will also assist during external audits by providing critical analysis and support for the delivery of statutory accounts within set timelines and quality standards. Strong collaboration with Finance Business Partners is essential, requiring regular engagement to enhance data integrity. The role further involves offering accounting guidance and analytical support for ad hoc projects as needed. Accountability for compliance with, implementation of, and adherence to Old Mutual Insurance Rwanda’s policies, procedures, and processes—particularly in Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Sanctions, and broader Compliance frameworks—falls within this position’s scope. This includes conducting ongoing and enhanced due diligence, maintaining high data quality standards, and proactively identifying potential AML, Sanctions, or Compliance breaches, unusual activities, and escalating concerns to the Risk and Compliance Office for further action. Other duties as assigned by the line manager or senior management may also apply.

When listing your skills for Old Mutual South Africa, always link them directly to the specific Dynamics mentioned. For example, if they require data analysis, mention your Excel or SQL experience—not just your degree. This shows you read carefully and are ready to contribute from day one.
Positioning — Your cover letter must answer one question: why YOU for THIS specific role right NOW? Avoid generic templates — one sentence on what you specifically bring beats three generic paragraphs.
Software and standards — Specify your actual accounting tools and standards knowledge. Finance technical tests often cover reconciliation cases or variance analysis — practice these with real examples.

•Never pay any amount of money — for a file, a training, a uniform, or an interview. A real employer never asks the candidate to pay.
•Never send a photo of your ID card, passport, or banking details before you have physically verified the employer exists.
•Always meet in a public place, during the day — never an isolated address, a private home, or a location you cannot verify in advance.
•Tell a relative or friend exactly where you are going, with whom, and at what time — and share your live location if possible.
•Search the company name online before going: a real business has a trace (website, reviews, other employees, an official address).
•A salary that is far above the market rate for the position and the city is a red flag — be extra cautious.
