We are currently seeking a highly motivated professional to join our team as a Child Protection Specialist (NO-3) on a temporary basis in Kigali, Rwanda. This role involves reporting to the Child Protection Specialist for guidance while playing a key part in developing, managing, and implementing child protection programs and projects within the country program. Your responsibilities will include providing technical expertise, ensuring effective program delivery, monitoring progress, evaluating impact, and reporting on results in alignment with UNICEF’s strategic plans, resource allocations, and results-based management frameworks. You will contribute to strengthening national and international efforts to create a protective environment for children, safeguarding their rights to survival, development, and well-being as outlined in the Convention on the Rights of the Child and other relevant international frameworks. Key responsibilities include supporting program development and planning, managing and delivering program results, providing technical and operational support, building networks and partnerships, fostering innovation and knowledge management, and upholding safeguarding measures, including Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (SEA). To qualify, you must meet the following requirements: Education: An advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in International Development, Psychology, Sociology, Social Services, Human Rights, International Law, or a related social science field is required. A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area combined with at least two additional years of relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of an advanced degree. Work Experience: A minimum of five years of relevant experience in International Development, Human Rights, Child Protection, Program Management, Program Development, Monitoring, Reporting, Evaluation, Advocacy, Capacity Building, Partnership Building, Safeguarding, or Gender-Based Violence is essential. Skills: Strong expertise in Child Protection, SEA, Safeguarding, Social Development, Program Management, Capacity Building, and Government Relations is required. Language Requirements: Fluency in English is mandatory. Proficiency in another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish), or a local language such as Kinyarwanda, as well as experience working in developing countries, child protection programming, UN agencies, and humanitarian contexts, are considered strong assets.
