1. Community Mobilizer

Job Description:

Project planning and implementation.

Key Responsibilities:

Coordinate effective and timely implementation of all interventions outlined under 4 Rs (Risk reduction, Risk transfer, Risk retention, Risk diversification) and any other related and cross cutting project activities.

Participate in the preparation of overall work plan and budget as well as develop activity plans and budgets for technical support of local value chain development interventions.

Support in the mobilization and registration of the Households.

Participate in developing different levels of progress report (weekly updates, situational reports, quarterly, semi-annual and annual reports).

Supporting Project Quality Assurance (PQA) through organizing and supporting monitoring visits on 4 Rs interventions.

Collaborate with relevant ministries and other relevant partners at the County and community levels to ensure integration and high-level implementation of the planned Project activities.

Work together with other staff to ensure that key trainings meet the standard required to facilitate, provide knowledge and reinforcement of desired L&R behaviour and practices.

Ensure that business processes, standards and guidelines related to Livelihood & Resilience initiatives are effectively applied in project implementation.

Make technical input into the planning and design of project specific operational researches, including baseline and end line evaluation, post distribution monitoring related to L&R.

Conduct continuous activity and budget analysis to ensure adherence to the approved work, budget and procurement plans.

Successful and timely implementation of Economic Recovery and market systems sub-Sector activities.

Budget utilization to acceptable thresholds.

Technical support.

Support in the training of the households on the 4 Rs (Risk reduction, Risk transfer, Risk retention, Risk diversification).

Support Training of financial inclusion groups on digitization.

Support Continuous Coaching and Mentoring of the financial inclusion groups and reporting.

Link the financial inclusion groups to other support services.

Work with communities and relevant stakeholders to identify key on-farm and off farm value chains to support.

Support project market research on viable value chains.

Ensure the target communities are mobilized and participate in the identified Local Value Chain Interventions.

In consultation with other staff, government and partners sensitize and mobilize the communities to form Project Implementation units, producer groups.

Cost effective and efficient implementation of the project interventions.

Support produce aggregation and marketing activities of the project.

Work with Project Officer, local stakeholders and leaders to identify community champions/resource persons 4 Rs.

In consultation with other staff develop capacity assessment tools for producer groups and develop a capacity development plan.

Formation / Diplômes:

Facilitate the capacity building of the partners and farmer groups on LVCD activities (Climate Smart Agriculture, Entrepreneurship, post-harvest management and value addition, transformational leadership).

Facilitate linkages of the savings groups to other bigger micro-finance product to enhance their performance.

Ensure cross cutting themes are integrated into LVCD interventions.

Provide technical support and timely feedback to the cluster Manager on the 4 Rs.

Organize meetings with key local value chain actors and farmers to forge effective support of the LVCD interventions.

Ensure adult and child safeguarding during the implementation of the planned interventions.

Quality assurance - Monitoring, Reporting, evaluation and Documentation.

Ensure the community champions the Four Rs (Risk reduction, Risk retention, Risk diversification) have necessary monitoring tools and are trained on the same.

Develop project monitoring and reporting schedules in collaboration with the various stakeholders.

Work with the community champions/facilitators to continuously train, monitor and mentor the performance of financial inclusion and producer groups along identified value chains.

Clean and Collate project performance data and ensure it is keyed into the relevant Monitoring Information System (MIS) on a monthly basis.

Prepare weekly updates, monthly, quarterly, bi-annual and annual progress reports.

Documentation of key lessons learnt and successes stories from the target farmers.

Continuously track progress of planned activities and outputs in the detailed implementation plan to ensure timely and quality implementation of plans.

Support Monitoring and evaluation of the grant project activities in coordination with M&E and relevant stakeholders.

Support farmer records digitization process and performance tracking in collaboration with community resource persons and relevant private actors.

Together with farmers, partners, conduct regular reflection and learning events.

Support the project data collection during baseline, end line, market assessments and post distribution assessments.

Quality and timely reporting of project interventions and assessments.

Effective project monitoring and documentation.

Developed and updated digital farmer records in place.

Strategic Engagement, Partnership and Networking.

Represent World Vision in key L&R stakeholder forum/meetings and relevant networks at the Ward, Sub-County and County levels.

Effective coordination with other stakeholders.

Facilitates linkages of the financial inclusion groups and farmers groups to micro-finance institutions and skills development institutions.

Strengthen partnerships with the county government and other partners for effective support and capacity development of the farmers for sustainability.

Required Qualification, Experience and Skills:

Diploma certificate in Agriculture/ Agricultural economics/Agricultural extension and education/Nutrition/Developmental Studies with experience in implementing a livelihood project.

Minimum of two years’ experience working with communities in either relief or Livelihood and Resilience/Food security projects.

Excellent English communication skills (both oral and written) with a good understanding of the local dialect and context.

Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office and Lotus Notes (or another main email system such as Microsoft Outlook).

A team player, capable of building the community capacity in economic recovery aspects.

Ability to take initiative, a team leader able to work with minimum supervision.

Cross-cultural sensitivity and emotional maturity.

Ability to maintain performance expectations in diverse cultural contexts.

Understanding and demonstrated commitment to the importance of gender and other key issues in Economic empowerment.

2. Driver (Open to local residents of Kajiado County)

Job Description:

Major Responsibilities:

Staff Facilitation:

Timely facilitation of staff to and from work and to other official duties.

Ensure safety of staff and vehicle while on journey.

Ensure mobilization of additional vehicles and drivers to facilitate key events such as major donor visits, campaigns, evaluations and baselines.

Ensure facilitation of Staff / Visitors / Donors to the field.

Administration support:

Facilitate delivery of parcels/mails.

In collaboration with Administration department liaise with service providers to ensure quality services.

Work with respective staff to plan and coordinate field facilitation services.

Support in community mobilization.

Vehicle care and maintenance:

Ensure vehicle cleanliness all the time.

Keep vehicle movement log book up to date.

Check mechanical and operational soundness of the vehicle.

To ensure that the vehicle is serviced at the required time.

To check and ensure that all vehicle tools are in place and intact.

Undertake minor repairs and recommend for major vehicle repairs.

Park the vehicle at the recommended parking areas by WVK.

Seek for permission to use the car as per the laid down policy and procedures.

Obey traffic laws.

Maintain maximum care of the vehicle at all times.

Submit all the vehicle spare keys to the Fleet management for safe custody.

Surrender vehicle keys to the respective admins every end of trip.

Report all vehicle malfunctions to the fleet office.

Initiate procurement process for all motor vehicle repairs and maintenance.

Reporting:

Prepare monthly and other vehicle reports and file copies of the same after approval.

Forward all invoices and fuel returns to fleet management for payment process.

In case of accident, forward detailed report for claim processing.

Required Qualifications: Education, Skills and Experience:

KCSE Certificate.

Minimum 3 years’ driving experience driving class B, C1, C, CE, D3, CD in the new driving classification.

Basic knowledge of motor vehicle maintenance.

Computer literate.

First Aid and other safety certification is an added advantage.

Basic defensive driving certification is an added advantage.

Prior experience working in an NGO set up is an added advantage.
